Arnold Laver replace Charlie after 94 years

The early day’s

In the early day’s Arnold Laver delivered his goods on a hand cart, and later he purchased their first horse Charlie to lighten the load.

From humble beginnings, with the first site in Heeley Sheffield, the Arnold Laver business has grown, and is now known and respected nationally as a Company that represents quality and choice.

This was endorsed throughout the 2012 London Olympic Games where Arnold Laver supplied over 50% of the timber and timber-based products required.

Fast track to 2014, Charlie is no longer about, but, given the task of selecting a delivery method suitable for today’s trade, Group Operations Manager, Debbie Jones has opted for a DAF CF 6x2 rigid truck and the Palfinger F3 253 GT-S combination

The new Charlie
 Debbie Jones said:
‘The Palfinger, with a lift capacity of 2500kg, to a lift height of 3700mm is ideal for the delivery of any of the vast range of product we have, and with a ground clearance of 300mm, off road deliveries are not a problem. In particular, this will enhance our service offer, for the distribution of doors and door-sets, meaning we can provide our customers with an easy and managed process, from ordering right through to site delivery’.
Debbie added:
‘Bennett Engineering have organised everything, the purchasing process was trouble-free and they even came to us to carry out the training that we needed.’
