Mul-T-Lock provides security solution for two Solar Farms

Mul-T-Lock’s new high security state of the art padlock and cylinder systems has been installed by Abel Alarms at two solar panel farms to provide ultimate protection around the gated perimeter.

To combat the threat of vandalism and metal theft, solar farms across the country are investing in high-end security solutions to meet stringent safety and agricultural regulations.

In Taunton, Somerset, with no security currently in place at two local solar panel farms, local Mul-T-Lock supplier, Abel Alarms, proposed Mul-T-Lock’s new NE Closed Shackle Padlocks, with Integrator cylinder systems to offer patented protection for the solar panel farm.

So successful, Abel Alarms has now installed Mul-T-Lock’s specialist G Series padlocks at a second solar farm to protect the perimeter and add an extra layer of high security.

Marcus Kershaw, Locksmith at Abel Alarm, comments:
“Due to the remote and isolated locations of the solar farms, coupled with metal theft being on the rise, solar farms have become a prime target for opportunist criminals. Our focus was to secure the perimeter with high security padlock solutions with a mechanically patented system where only authorised personnel could enter.

“Mul-T-Lock remains the market leader in offering patented security solutions, with a padlock portfolio that offers maximum efficiency and high security together with great performance even in harsh environments, and total serviceability. Now located all along the perimeter the padlocks have worked really well to provide the highest level of security for the important work of the solar panel farms.”
Mul-T-Lock’s high security padlocks provide compliance with current standards and feature a double locking hardened boron alloy steel shackle, for greater strength and protection from attack.

With protective shutters to prevent dust and road grime contamination, plus shackle drainage holes to prevent freezing, the padlocks provide both durability and long term performance, perfect for harsh rural environments.

Ian Thresher, Regional Sales Manager at Mul-T-Lock added:
“The renewable energy market is fast growing, but needs to ensure enhanced security measures are in place. Specifically these solar panels are located next to a field and wall, which must be accessed by the Environment Agency (EA).

“Prompted to meet with the agriculture regulations, the solar farms needed to control who had access and
Mul-T-Lock’s patented security solutions enable complete key management and pure protection from ‘real time’ security threats. Here, Abel Alarms has really demonstrated the importance of understanding the needs of the client: the application, the risk and the access management.”
