Steel screens offer an intoxicating aesthetic for wine cellars

Creating a striking contemporary look while allowing visibility and the passage of light between different areas, glazed steel partitions and doors from members of the Steel Window Association have many applications within commercial and residential buildings, including screening wine cellars.

In traditional wine cellars, the aesthetics of steel screens contrast well with those of the fabric of older buildings. Steel sections may be configured to create three quarter-height and full- height panels with 90 degree returns or curves while accommodating large or small glass panes.

Steel screens are highly versatile and each is bespoke so can be designed to fit specific spaces making them ideal where, for example, the screen needs to follow the profile of a vaulted ceiling. The screens and doors have the added benefit that they may be used to provide security and aid temperature control by dividing cellars.

Unlike timber or aluminium, steel sections are very slim and strong. Large glazed areas can be created along with opening French or single doors up to a height of 2.4m with fixed glazing above where extra height is required. Fixed partitions can be certified with up to 30 minutes fire integrity using appropriate fire-rated glass.

Screens can be factory-finished with a polyester powder coat applied in any RAL colour. Alternatively, an industrial raw steel finish is offered that shows up the details of the manufacturing process, including the welded joints.
