Hörmann rolls out optimised design for popular garage door

The design of the widely popular RollMatic garage door from Hörmann has recently been optimised following the revision of select key components.

From January 2016, the original design of the RollMatic will be replaced by an updated version in a move that the leading manufacturer hopes will make the installation and maintenance processes easier. The revised components will also reduce the potential for error.

The width of the guide rails has been extended from 100mm to 110mm, covering the screws of the wind locks adjacent to the rails, thereby improving the overall appearance. The separate fitting compensation set and brush have now been integrated into the updated guide rail, but remain available as an optional extra. This component makes the door particularly suited to renovations or fittings on timber structures.

In addition to the previously used brush and weather strip, the guide rails now benefit from two further brush seals per rail, resulting in a class two driving rain tightness status.

The sealing has also been improved after a design change to the barrel casing, which will now be connected by a hinge. This is especially beneficial for externally fitted roller doors and will allow for easier access to the curtain during maintenance. The suspension has also been adjusted in such a way that the suspension points are no longer visible on the exterior of the cladding.

The guide channels have also been revised and will now serve as the fixing point for the barrel casing in the new design, thus removing the necessity for a separate sheet plate on internal roller doors.

David O’Mara, from Hörmann commented:
“After taking on feedback from our dealers and maintenance team we felt that some changes could be made that would benefit the door’s design and durability. The new RollMatic design still benefits from precision engineering and the latest technology, as well as its original intelligent design features, ensuring that it remains a safe, reliable and space-saving option for homeowners.”
A wide selection of finishes and colours, along with matching frames and fascia are still available for the RollMatic. The updated brochure, fitting data and instructions, order forms and spare parts list are now available from Hörmann’s website.

Hörmann has also made improvements to its packaging and will now wrap its curtains with cardboard on the outside and foam on the inside for better protection during transition and installation. The change will also make it easier and more convenient for installers to load the packaged doors into smaller vans.
