Allgood to Exhibit Benefits of Antimicrobial Copper Ironmongery at Patient First Exhibition

Allgood plc will be exhibiting its innovative Contego copper alloy architectural ironmongery range alongside the Copper Development Association on stand K88 at the Patient First exhibition, taking place on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd November 2016 at London’s ExCeL.

Offering the aesthetic appeal of stainless steel in a copper product, the Contego range incorporates the powerful antimicrobial qualities integral to copper, which is the most effective touch surface material in the fight against pathogenic microbes, killing greater than 99.9% of bacteria within 2 hours of exposure.

An increasingly popular method of infection prevention and control, antimicrobial copper is a cost effective, durable solution for hospital and healthcare environments.

Richard van den Bos, Product Manager at Allgood said:
“Relying on existing measures such as good hand hygiene, regular cleaning, disinfection and the promotion of general sanitation practices cannot eradicate health-care associated infections. In fact, 300,000 patients in England annually acquire a healthcare-associated infection while in the care of the NHS.
“High touch surfaces such as door handles, push plates and WC turns are common transfer points for bacteria and microbes within any busy environment.
“In a healthcare setting, where infection prevention and control is of paramount importance, results show that microbial contamination is significantly reduced on copper compared to standard surfaces by greater than 80%.
“The Contego copper alloy ironmongery seamlessly integrates with stainless steel furniture, providing a sterile and clean appearance whilst significantly reducing the risk posed by pathogens.”

Visitors to stand K88 will be able to discuss the antimicrobial properties of the Contego range with Allgood experts, as well as face the Contego Challenge, where guests are asked to identify and distinguish between copper alloy and stainless steel handles.

Patient First is the leading event for NHS and independent healthcare professionals and is co-located with The Infection, Prevention and Control Congress, a two day long event that provides practical and advanced advice for improving patient care.
