Market leader, Britalia Door Products, launches new first-of-its-kind DC motor

Britalia Door Products, a market leader in the manufacture of industrial shutters and doors and the production and distribution of motors, remote controls and accessories, has recently introduced their new, innovative range of DC motors.

The 24v DC motor, complete with control panel, has been designed using precision engineering and the latest technology.

Unlike more traditional tubular motors, the DC motor is user-friendly and easy to install. It boasts a host of new features which have been specifically designed to meet industry needs and customer demands: audio/visual alarm, deadman descent, split drop delay, volt-free fire alarm connection, to name but a few.

Mike Hinton, Sales Manager, Britalia Door Products said:
“As a company, we heavily invest in R&D. We innovate safely and successfully - meeting current and future industry needs and customer demands.
“Tubular motors are nothing new. But, five years ago, we saw a need to develop a more efficient, environmentally friendly tubular motor which would work for a wide range of fire related uses, from fire curtains and fire shutters to high usage doors and installations near water.
“Since then, we have developed, tested and patented the new DC motor to ensure we are bringing a superior, more cost-effective product to market.”

The DC motor is designed with no thermal limits which means that that it cannot overheat. If the power supply fails, the batteries operate the fire curtain for up to four days.

If the batteries deplete, the fire curtain will operate under controlled descent to its fire ready position, on the gravity failsafe model.  The fire curtain remains in this position until the power supply has been restored.
Mike continued: “Unlike other gravity failsafe systems, the new DC motor is specifically engineered to lift heavier curtains and close them in an emergency by controlled descent. This means that manufactures can build larger doors using a single barrel.”
The DC motor is available as either a standard or gravity failsafe model. The control panel is also suitable for integration into a building management system.

The launch of the DC motor and control panel is another milestone for the Cardiff-based company in terms of development of leading-edge products that are able to compete with the best in their class.

Last month, Britalia Door Products showcased the new DC motor at the Equipbaie 2016 trade show in Paris held between the 15th and 19th November.
