Laidlaw is now able to offer four RIBA approved CPD presentations to help provide greater insight into the specification of architectural ironmongery, access control, doorsets and handrail & balustrading components.
Covering a variety of topics, which are commonly encountered by specifiers, Laidlaw’s approved CPD materials look at the key points to consider before selecting a product or system. Laidlaw’s ‘Helping to Specify Architectural Ironmongery’ CPD for example, is designed to help architects understand why ironmongery is such an important component of a building. The CPD looks closely at the different components that help doors function in the required manner whilst touching on the reasons why legislation and standards play an important part in specification – in turn, this will help raise awareness of specification procedures.
Specification of Internal Timber Doorsets
Similarly, the ‘Specification of Internal Timber Doorsets with Particular Reference to Parts M and E of the Building Regulations’ CPD looks at how the building regulations have changed significantly over the past 18 months and the impact this now has on the specification of doorsets. The presentation will endeavour to educate those as to how best to comply going forward.
Equality Act 2010
The ‘Equality Act 2010 - Access to Goods, Services and Facilities’ presentation aims to address the major access issues raised by part III DDA in a clear and concise manner and relates specifically to the areas that architects will be made aware of coupled with the extent of their duties. The CPD also touches on access control situations, door opening/closing forces and light reflectance value information.
Handrails and Balustrades
Finally, the ‘Handrails and Balustrades: Adding Flair to your Stairs’ CPD looks at the importance of adhering to safety requirements but how this should not restrict creativity in the design of staircases, handrails, balustrades and modular handrailing systems which can be tailored to suit both aesthetic and practical requirements.
