Laidlaw Interiors Group (LIG) has provided its technical expertise along with a series of products and systems for the £20 million development of Holly House Hospital, based in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.
Extensive building work has now been completed since planning permission was granted earlier this year for the redevelopment and expansion of the hospital. The new, purpose built facility that will house a majority of the hospital’s outpatient services, has now been built on the former site of the London Ambulance station.
Holly House Hospital has been established for 30 years and holds a great importance to its surrounding community. This is one of the many reasons why LIG was pleased to be a part of this fantastic redevelopment.
LIG supplied £180k worth of timber doorsets and ironmongery, which included the provision of Laidlaw’s Normbau range of ironmongery, which is coated with Microban
– an antimicrobial surface protection, which will help prevent the spread of disease.

LIG supplied £180k worth of timber doorsets and ironmongery, which included the provision of Laidlaw’s Normbau range of ironmongery, which is coated with Microban

LIG also supplied £40k worth of IPS panels via Cubicle Systems, £9k worth of sliding/folding partition doors by Komfort and £12k worth of steel doorsets by Fitzpatrick. Beech doors, frames and fully encapsulated postformed doorsets and frames with the flush glaze system were also supplied by LIG.

It will be a major boost to the local community as well as our own staff.”
The new building will house a majority of the hospital’s outpatient services including consultation rooms, physiotherapy, pharmacy, minor treatment unit, oral surgery suite and pathology laboratory. This will enable additional inpatient bedrooms to be created within the current building, increasing the number of inpatient beds from 55 to 70.
Furthermore, existing time expired buildings within the current hospital have also been replaced, including the three theatres, to provide more suitable and modern facilities for the care and treatment of patients.
