Following its successful conference in Budapest, ARGE has announced that it will be pursuing the creation of generic Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), as well as introducing new key members to the Executive Board.
At its General Meeting on 5th September, attended by over 41 delegates, ARGE voted to pursue its sustainability agenda through the creation of entry level EPDs.
EPDs are the most effective way for communicating a product’s verifiable and accurate environmental information, and following the introduction of the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR) these are becoming increasingly imperative.
Three tenders have been submitted to ARGE outlining plans for the effective delivery of EPDs. These proposals will now be debated by ARGE, with the preferred method informing its sustainability roadmap.
In addition, ARGE elected a Chairman and two additional members of the Executive Board.

“ARGE is pleased to welcome the new management and is convinced that ARGE’s targets and objectives according to the new Business Plan will be reached.
“The decision to pursue the creation of EPDs helps to shape ARGE’s vision and sustainability roadmap – giving us some very clear aims to work toward and most importantly deliver for our members. We have worked hard to stress the importance of the changes in the construction sector and the impact these will have on the lock and hardware industry. The generic EPDs are crucial in helping our members to remain competitive in an ever-changing market and we look forward to defining our strategy and working toward achieving this.”
