SOMMER is once again leading the way in the field of door & gate operation with the introduction of the brand new twist 350 and twist XL models for swing gates up to 7m wide or 1100kg per leaf.
The new additions to the SOMMER range comply with the highest European standards for safety and reliability and incorporate a patented self-locking brake system for extra reliability and strength, meaning they can withstand huge forces without affecting the motor and gears.
The only load on the motor and gearbox comes from normal operation as, when the gate is put under pressure by wind or human force, these forces are directly diverted by the patented braking system through the housing and the mounting base to the gate post. This means both the motor and gears are continually protected from overload and damage.
Both operators incorporate accident prevention thanks to the Dynamic Power System (DPS). The DPS monitors the current supplied to the operator for the size and weight of the gate, continuously monitoring the current throughout the lifetime of the motor and making small adjustments as necessary, thus preventing unwanted stoppages and keeping the installation safe.
Not only are these operators very safe and effective, they are also very versatile. The twist 350 and twist XL can easily be used together on the same set of gates and can also be fitted to gates that open to the outside and are suited to fully-filled gates.
The sliding gate sector is also well catered for by SOMMER thanks to the recent introduction of the SP900. This is a virtually maintenance-free, power-saving operator with a long service life. Advanced security features include an integrated electric lock, whilst safety edges and light barriers are detected automatically.
Furthermore, as the SP900 provides a selector switch for gate run DIN left/DIN right no reconnection of motor and limit switch wires is necessary. Automatic and semi-automatic closing is possible from the end position and partial-opening position.
The RUNner sliding gate operator is also part of the SOMMER range. This benefits from similar features to the SP900 and is designed for gates up to 8m travel length and 600kg weight. The RUNner has fully-automated force learning, ensuring the highest safety standards, as well as an energy-saving toroidal core transformer that offers low running costs.
