Grade A commercial buildings such as the prestigious One St Peter’s Square in Manchester requires doorsets that combine performance standards along with high quality finishes.
Leaderflush Shapland Laidlaw supplied 550 doorsets with integrated ironmongery to the recently completed BREEAM ‘Excellent’ Grade A office development in the heart of Manchester’s business district. The contemporary building is part of a wider £185 million transformation and redevelopment of the Square, Library Walk, Central Library and The Town Hall extension.
All Leaderflush Shapland Laidlaw doorsets supplied to the project were FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) supporting One St Peter’s Square BREEAM ‘Excellent’ status – this scheme is the world’s most established and widely used method of assessing and certifying a building’s sustainability. The American Black Walnut veneer on the doorsets provides a high quality look and finish for the contemporary office development.
The FD 120 doorsets ensure that the fire regulations within the building are met, in compliance with Approved Document B for fire safety. The doorsets supplied not only provide contemporary finishes but also optimum performance standards to meet the requirements of current building regulations for access, fire and acoustics.
The integrated doorsets proposition combines Leaderflush Shapland Laidlaw’s ironmongery to provide the client with a complete doorset solution. The architect Glenn Howells specified bespoke lever handles in grade 316 stainless steel; this robust and non-corrosive steel ensures a clean and sturdy appearance combined with structural simplicity on the lever handle.
Leaderflush Shapland Laidlaw worked alongside Glenn Howells Architects to devise a locking strategy, the locking cylinders provide a high level of physical security whilst combining simple master keying. This option is ideal for One St Peter’s Square which was designed to combine good levels of security with convenience - ideally suited to employees moving freely between offices without being over specified.
Commenting on Leaderflush Shapland Laidlaw’s work at One St Peter’s Square Stephen Hutsby, Head Of Marketing and Product Development, said:
“Working on a project as prestigious as One St Peter’s square requires a doorset that is durable yet stylish, at Leaderflush Shapland Laidlaw we have the ability to produce high quality technical solutions to suit any design requirement, ensuring the right product for the right application”.www.leaderflushshapland.co.uk
