In this feature article we interview one of Hörmann UKs employees, Katherine Howe, their Marketing Coordinator, who works with the wider marketing team to manage internal and external communications, exhibitions and other projects.
How long have you worked with Hörmann?
I joined the Hörmann UK marketing team in 2017 as a Marketing Administrative Assistant.
What is your job at Hörmann?
My current position within the marketing department is Marketing Coordinator, where I work with the wider marketing team to manage internal and external communications, exhibitions, our website and other projects.
What training was required?
I have undertaken extensive product training to improve my understanding of Hörmann’s vast product offering. To further support this, I work closely with Hörmann’s marketing manager, David O’Mara, which results in a lot of on the job training.
What does a normal day look like?
The marketing department works across the entire business, which means we are responsible for media planning and event and exhibition organisation. We also work closely with our nationwide network of distributors to provide support, including updating websites and supplying dealer forum copy for in depth advice and information. The whole marketing team works across both the industrial and domestic sides of the business, so no day really is the same as there’s so many different products and project types.
What are the best and hardest parts of the job?
I enjoy being faced with challenges such as planning events, as it requires a lot of preparation and hard work throughout the duration of the show. However, event organisation does not come without unexpected hiccups, no matter how much preparation has gone into it, I need to be flexible to adapt to unforeseen changes. When faced with these setbacks, it’s even more rewarding to be able to present a solution quickly and efficiently.
Have you worked on any interesting projects?
In 2020, the marketing team will be focusing on improving Hörmann UK’s relationship with its dealer network. This will be facilitated through the launch of a new initiative, the Hörmann standard, along with our new online dealer locater. This year, I am working closely with the team in charge of delivering this, so I am looking forward to seeing this coming into fruition later on in the year.
What has been your proudest moment at Hörmann?
My proudest moment so far while working at Hörmann UK was the day I was promoted from Marketing Administrative Assistant to Marketing Coordinator.
