Secured by Design (SBD) member company Russell Timber Technology is once again leading the way, with the launch of their new QTE 3 range external timber doorsets which have achieved dual certification compliance for both fire and security.
The fully certified and CE Marked FD30 QTE 3 timber doorset range is available in a variety of styles and colours and sees the company add to their already extensive range of SBD accredited doors and windows.
Russell Timber Technology is a family-run company dating back to 1888. From its origins as a joinery firm specialising in door manufacturing, the business has evolved and diversified throughout the years. Today the company is able to offer its clients across the UK a complete solution that is specific to their project requirements.
It does this through design, manufacture, supply and installation of precision-engineered Timber and Alu-Clad Doors, Windows and Curtain Walling systems from its base in Glasgow, with products supplied throughout the United Kingdom.
The business specialises in supplying beautiful, advanced, engineered timber doors and windows for both new build and refurbishment, typically in large scale housing projects, city apartments, social housing and Eco homes.
What sets the company apart is ongoing investment in both training and state of the art equipment, which not only speeds up production but allows much more flexibility in terms of meeting the client’s specification and the needs of the build.
Russell Timber Technology boasts its own in-house estimating team, design team, drawing office and fitting teams allowing control over the entire process from start to finish, an innovative approach that has attributed to its success and longevity in the industry.

Michael Luby, Sales Director at Russell Timber Technology, said:
“Our focus is clear, we will continue to build on our success of recent years, maximise our brand awareness and increase sales at the same consistent levels we have done.
“At the same time we will continue to manufacture the most innovative & certified products to SBD standards and maintain the very highest levels of quality within the market.
“We will continue to complete projects on time for our clients and provide our customers with a first class service before, during and after projects have been completed.
“Alongside this we will continue to bring our employees with us, working alongside and supporting them to fulfil their potential whilst embedding the best traditional family business values which are inherent throughout all levels of Russell Timber Technology”.
SBD National Manager Kenny McHugh, said:
“I am really pleased that Russell Timber Technology’s QTE 3 range of external timber doorsets have achieved dual certification. Correctly certified security and fire rated products are a crucial part of any development and developers specifying dual certification can be reassured that the complete doorset will not only protect against an attack by intruders but, in the event of a fire, will also restrict fire from entering or escaping from a flat.”
SBD is the official police security initiative that is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim to reduce crime and help people live more safely.
SBD seek to improve the physical security of buildings using products, such as doors, windows, locks and walling systems that meet the SBD Police Preferred Specification security requirements.
In addition, SBD works closely with builders, developers, local authorities and registered housing associations to incorporate the police crime prevention standards into developments from initial concept and design, through to construction and completion.
Police forces throughout the UK have specially trained Designing Out Crime Officers (DOCOs) who offer police designing out crime and SBD advice free of charge. Over one million homes have been built to SBD standards with reductions in crime of up to 87%.
SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK.
