dormakaba launches new RIBA Approved Access Control CPD

dormakaba, the leading provider of door, access and security solutions, has launched a new RIBA Approved Continual Professional Development (CPD) module.
‘Demystifying Access Control’ is the latest addition to dormakaba’s portfolio of educational sessions and provides an overview of access control fundamentals as well as key specification considerations and the latest innovations in hardware and software.

The CPD session offers participants a guide to the standards and regulations related to access control and how to ensure all requirements are met. It further covers wider regulatory considerations such as the data collection and security implications of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The presentation also includes an overview of both hardware components and software options and then provides examples of the latest solutions and their applications.

This includes digital cylinders, wall mounted readers and handle sets, and how smart phones can provide a flexible and secure option for access media.

Finally, the seminar outlines real world examples of how access control has been implemented for a variety of organisations and demonstrates the key issues and challenges involved, the solutions deployed and the benefits.

The session is delivered either as a webinar or an on site presentation by one of dormakaba’s access control specialists and is completed in approximately 45 minutes with time set aside following the presentation to answer any questions the participants have on the topic.

The CPD can be delivered to a whole team in the same session and can be scheduled for a time that is convenient for the participants.

The CPD can also be accessed as a pre-recorded, on-demand video. As a RIBA Approved CPD, it has been rigorously assessed by the RIBA and is therefore worth double CPD points to RIBA Chartered Architects.

Andrew Slynn, Product Sales Manager at dormakaba commented:
“Selecting the correct access control solution can be challenging, especially where there are complex requirements that must be balanced.
Our new CPD session provides specifiers with a broad overview of the issues and solutions to help them seek the right information and ultimately make the correct choice for each project.”
