CompareTheBuild.com launched this week at the Homebuilding and Renovating Show, offering savings on thousands of products from industry heavyweights B&Q, Travis Perkins, Selco, Jewson, Wickes and many more.
CompareTheBuild.com is the UK’s first price comparison site for building supplies and has nearly 300,000 searchable products – with more being added all the time.
The building supplies e-commerce startup, helps builders, tradespeople and DIY enthusiasts buy their supplies quickly and efficiently at the lowest price.
Its algorithm creates a live shopping list that works 24/7 to show the lowest prices, meaning users can save on nearly every item. The entire range of supplies is price-checked: building and hardware; tiling and flooring; plumbing and heating; painting and decorating; kitchens and bathrooms, and more.
The company was started by professional plasterer, Joseph Wilson. During his 20-year career, he quoted on jobs of all sizes based on estimates. Over time he learned that the everyday products he was using varied hugely in price, depending on which builder’s merchant he was buying from.
Mr Wilson said:
‘After painstaking research I realised there was nowhere for builders, construction companies, surveyors, property developers and home DIY enthusiasts to compare products and prices. I saw an opportunity to use technology to make the price comparison and purchase process easier, cheaper and more convenient.
