NEOS Protect renew membership with Secured by Design

Neos Protect, which specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of an extensive range of access-controlled communal entrance doors and glazed screens for the housing, education and commercial sectors, has renewed its membership with Secured by Design (SBD).

Based in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, NEOS Protect meets all the mandatory security requirements for communal entrance doorsets contained in Approved Document Q (ADQ) of the Building Regulations 2010, which became effective in England in October 2015.

NEOS Protect has an extensive range of products that have been accredited by SBD, which requires that doors are not only tested by the manufacturer but also have been certified by a certification body approved by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) – and therefore exceed the requirements of ADQ.

NEOS Protect has a range of doorsets which have achieved dual certification compliance for both security and fire as part of its SBD portfolio.

Derek Quinn, NEOS Protect, said:
“We are delighted to continue our membership of the SBD scheme, it is a massive part of our identity as a company, and it generates income for both our company and our local community. We have steadily grown our SBD product range over the years, and we now provide all the door configurations required by architects and designers.”

Alfie Hosker, SBD Technical Manager, said:
“NEOS Protect is a highly valued member company committed to incorporating security into a wide range of building types in a number of key sectors. I am delighted that they are continuing their membership with us. Their mission statement says the company is ‘dedicated to the protection of lives’ and NEOS Protect have been great advocates of SBD for many years. That’s a huge benefit for their customers.”

Specific SBD requirements for access control and additional requirements for buildings are included in SBD’s range of Design Guides, which can be viewed/downloaded for free here.
