Founded in 1835, the Ferryside Lifeboat operates in the Three Rivers Estuary and is one of seventy inshore lifeboats throughout the UK.
Working alongside the RNLI as a ‘declared’ search and rescue facility operating under the direction and coordination of the U.K.
Coastguard, the Ferryside Lifeboat, a vital independent organization, is crewed by volunteers from the village.
It is completely funded and maintained through donations.
Alongside the main lifeboat, Ferryside also operates a small Zodiac inflatable which is used for rescues at low water.
However, with no room at the main lifeboat station to store the inflatable a new site was needed on the waterfront to provide storage and to help speed up launches.
A small garage to house the boat has now been built, a testament to the community's unity and support, financed by donations and support from the local community.
Hörmann was approached by Ned Stephens, one of the crew.
As a builder, Stephens had experience with Hörmann garage doors and was aware of their quality and operational integrity.
Hörmann was happy to help and donated an LPU 42 L-ribbed sectional garage door finished in RAL 3000 Flame Red.
The new facility was officially opened on June 30th.
