Alutech Side Extension System from JD (UK) Reaches New Widths

Earlier this year, JD (UK) Ltd launched the latest development from Alutech for sectional garage doors, which pushes the boundaries of what can be achieved with a double door side extension sprung system.

Previously, the maximum width for double doors with a side sprung system for the majority of the market was between 3045mm to 3500mm. The new system from Alutech can accommodate door widths of up 4500mm.

This has increased the market potential of sectional doors for JD (UK) customers and offers a host of additional benefits to both the installer and end-user.

JD (UK) customer, Terry Watson of Chesterfield-based A1 Garage Doors (UK) Ltd, told DIJ how it has transformed his business…

Terry explains,
“I was aware that something was in the pipeline and, with my engineering background, I anticipated the potential it offered. But it has been such a great improvement that, since it was launched in January, of the 20-25 sectional doors I order each month from JD (UK), nearly all of them are side sprung.
“In the past, customers have been put off by the look of the overhead and rear-mounted systems and it increases the overall cost significantly. The side extension sprung system is cheaper and more discreet so the price and aesthetics are immediately more appealing. It’s also quicker to install, often saving up to 2 hours per job. This frees up my time to carry out more surveys, which generates more jobs for my installers and more revenue for my business.
“Overhead and rear-mounted systems can be complicated and rely on torsion leaving them prone to maintenance issues, particularly on bigger doors, which results in call backs for me. The springs on the side extension system work independently of each other and don’t have to be run with torsion so are easier to install and more reliable, saving time both at install and by reducing call backs. The system offers a problem-solving solution to customers, giving them more options where an automated sectional door might not have been possible due to height and headroom restrictions.
“The increased width capability of the double side extension sprung sectional door from JD (UK) means I can now offer the additional benefits of this system to most of my bigger jobs. It’s been a total game changer for me.”
