This year, Morecambe Carnival in Lancashire attracted 55,000 people over the second weekend in August and organisers wanted to offset the impact this would have on the local area.
SWS UK subsequently bought 120 trees for the carnival’s ‘Trees ‘n’ Bees’ initiative as part of their ongoing commitment to the environment.
The company are ISO:14001 accredited (the international environmental standard) and have successfully worked towards zero to landfill for production waste.
The ‘Trees ‘n’ Bees’ theme was chosen by the Carnival Committee to raise awareness of the importance of trees to the environment, the plight of diminishing bee populations, as well as to start a Carnival Wildlife Woodland for the area.
Event organiser, Carla Brayshaw, said:
“This will go towards offsetting the environmental footprint of the event and will be a wonderful legacy for the town, for our children, grandchildren and future generations.”
The shutter manufacturers also sponsored Morecambe’s Vale of Lune RUFC Under 14’s training kit for the 2018/19 season.

The junior squad have gotten off to a flying start with a winning streak that has pulled in some impressive scores.
In early October, the lads won with an incredible 97 – 14 when playing at home against Fleetwood.
Due to the age of the squad, rather than a league-format, the season’s champion team is decided through Lancashire Cup Matches.
What was previously the Under 13’s team won the prestigious prize last year and this year’s team have no signs of slowing down.
They are already working towards retaining their title after winning their first match for the cup this season, beating Heaton Moor 36 – 19.
This year's rules see's the team playing on a full-size pitch with 15 players.
The young team have been wearing their new training attire, with the SWS UK logo emblazoned across the back, every Thursday evening for practice sessions and on the Sundays that they aren’t competing.

“At SWS, we get involved with a range of activities around our local community as it not only houses our business, but also our staff.
“A number of colleagues enjoyed the Morecambe Carnival, so to be a part of a legacy that will last for many years gives members of SWS UK something that we can all be proud of.
“We’re also very proud to sponsor Vale of Lune RUFC for the 2018/19 season and support grassroots sport in the area. They’re already performing really well this season, so it’s extra special sponsoring such a dedicated young team.”
