Built to excite: A stunning Las Vegas premiere for Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe

Mercedes-AMG is delighted to welcome Brad Pitt as the newest member of the World's Fastest Family. Known for his starring role in the Hollywood blockbuster F1® THE MOVIE and his unmistakable on-screen presence, Brad combines ambition, performance and a spirit of innovation – values that are deeply rooted in the DNA of Mercedes‑AMG.

His passion for powerful, emotionally engaging cars makes him the perfect ambassador as AMG enters a new dimension of performance. Brad will represent the upcoming Mercedes‑AMG GT 4‑Door Coupe – a machine that is engineered to excite and which will celebrate its world premiere in 2026.

To mark this partnership, Mercedes‑AMG staged a spectacular high-energy stunt in Las Vegas, starring Brad Pitt, George Russell and a camouflaged prototype of the upcoming vehicle. The scene: Brad waits for his car at a valet stand - only to discover that the valet driver is none other than five-time F1 race winner George Russell.

Behind the wheel of a Mercedes‑AMG GT 4‑Door Coupe prototype, George puts the car through its paces, offering a first look at the breathtaking precision, agility, and thrill that will define the new Mercedes‑AMG GT 4‑Door Coupe.[1]

With this playful yet powerful appearance, Mercedes‑AMG prepares the world for the arrival of the upcoming all‑new Mercedes‑AMG GT 4‑Door Coupe – the first vehicle based on the future high-performance architecture AMG.EA.

[1] The driving stunt was carried out under strict safety precautions on closed roads and exclusively with professional drivers and should not be imitated.

Hörmann Announces 2026 Dates for Academy Training programme

Hörmann UK has launched the dates for its 2026 installation and product training courses, to be held at the company’s state-of-the-art Training Academy in Coalville, Leicestershire. With 50 sessions scheduled throughout the year, the programme is offered free of charge to Hörmann’s trade partners and covers both the domestic and industrial product ranges.

The domestic training will focus on the installation of Hörmann’s extensive selection of garage doors, entrance doors, and operators, including the range of Hormann Truedor composite doors. In addition, sales and product modules will provide insight into product features, benefits, accurate specification, and pricing – giving installers the tools to offer a complete solution to customers.

For the industrial sector, courses will cover the installation and configuration of Hörmann’s full industrial door portfolio, including dock levellers and associated equipment. These sessions are designed to provide a deeper understanding of the product range and help trade partners better support their clients with tailored industrial solutions.

A dedicated platform, Hörmann Events, helps streamline the booking process, allowing trade partners to find detailed course descriptions, available dates, and make bookings quickly and easily.

David O’Mara, Marketing Manager at Hörmann UK, commented, “Since the launch of the Hörmann Academy in 2019, we’ve trained hundreds of installers and trade professionals each year. It continues to play a vital role in supporting our partners with effective and up-to-date training and for 2026, we’re once again offering an extensive programme to meet demand across all areas. The sessions are always popular and book up quickly, so I’d encourage our partners to secure their place as soon as possible.”

In addition to face-to-face sessions at the Coalville Academy, Hörmann also provides a range of training videos via the Hörmann UK YouTube channel, offering on-demand support for commonly encountered installation issues.

For more information about the courses, please contact Marizel Le Roux at m.leroux.lei@hormann.co.uk

Keeping Up, Staying Safe - Why ongoing training matters more than ever

It is easy to see training as something to complete and then move on from. Many of us receive a webinar invitation or a reminder for a refresher course and think we already know what we need to know.

Yet in an industry where products directly protect people’s property or lives, keeping skills and knowledge current is not an optional exercise. It is a professional responsibility.

DHF’s Commercial Director, Patricia Sowsbery-Stevens, explains more...

Competence is at the very heart of safe practice. The Building Safety Act has made that expectation very clear. Those involved in the design, manufacture, installation, and maintenance of safety-critical products must be able to demonstrate that they are qualified, capable, and committed to ongoing learning. It is no longer enough to say we are experienced. We must also be able to prove it through continuous development and a genuine understanding of our obligations.

Across our sector, competence frameworks now guide how we work. They ensure that every individual, from office teams and manufacturers to installers and maintenance engineers, understands their responsibilities and the standards required. These frameworks help create a culture where safety and compliance are shared priorities rather than box-ticking exercises.

The world does not stand still, and neither do regulations or standards. They change as technology evolves and as new lessons emerge. What was correct five years ago might no longer meet the current benchmark. A single overlooked update can lead to costly mistakes or, in the worst cases, real harm. Keeping knowledge up to date is therefore not just a matter of compliance but a matter of responsibility.

At DHF, we continually refine and expand our training offering to reflect this responsibility. Each course, webinar, and module is designed to deliver a clear, understanding that enables people to apply best practice with confidence. We want to make learning accessible, relevant, and enjoyable.

Continuing Professional Development does not always mean stepping away from work for a full day. It can be as simple as joining an online session, reading an industry update, or watching a short presentation that challenges the way you think about safety, sustainability, or innovation. The important thing is to remain curious. Small moments of learning, repeated often, strengthen professional confidence and help build a safer industry for everyone. Keeping skills current is about more than compliance paperwork. It speaks of pride in one’s craft. It means knowing that every product you touch has been manufactured, installed, or maintained to the best possible standard. It also demonstrates credibility, and employers and clients are increasingly seeking proof of recent training and certification. Having that record demonstrates commitment, care, and competence. It can open doors, literally and figuratively, in an increasingly competitive market.

For professionals installing or maintaining doors, gates, and shutters, demonstrating competence has never been more important. Major organisations such as Amazon and London Heathrow Airport now expect clear evidence of skills, whether for initial installation or ongoing maintenance. The new competence framework from the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) provides exactly that, setting a clear standard for the industry.

The framework, now available in the Completed Installer Frameworks section of the CLC Competence webpage, has been shaped over 18 months in collaboration with the Automatic Door Suppliers Association (ADSA) under Sector Lead Group 10 (SLG10). DHF has been at the heart of its development. The framework assisted with the updating of the National Occupational Standard (NOS) to reflect the current skills, knowledge, experience, and behaviours required across the sector. It provides a structured approach, including a Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behaviours (SKEB) matrix, clear pathways to competence, and practical guidance for implementation. The framework supports alignment with the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Building Regulations etc. (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2023, and applies across installation, maintenance, servicing, and associated roles. This initial publication establishes a robust benchmark for the sector and offers essential guidance. For DHF members, it is a tool to demonstrate professional standards, enhance credibility, and ensure compliance with evolving industry expectations.

At DHF, we never stop reviewing our materials, consulting experts, and developing new ways to support those who rely on us. Our aim is to help our industry stay informed, skilled, and confident in the work it delivers. Of course, training takes time, but it is time well spent. That one morning refresher, that hour-long webinar, or that new course may not only strengthen your knowledge but could also be the difference between a product that performs and one that fails. And when we invest in our own learning, we invest in the safety of others. Staying current is not just a professional duty. It is the right thing to do.

Hörmann's ‘Door Secure Team’ Campaign Continues to Drive Growth in Roller Door Sales

Hörmann UK continues to see outstanding results from its high impact ‘Door Secure Team’ campaign, promoting the RollMatic T roller garage door. With a blend of bold creative messaging and strong dealer engagement, the campaign has delivered a significant 35% year-on-year increase in sales for the RollMatic range of doors.

Spearheaded by a collaboration with former Gladiator star Wolf, the campaign highlights the critical differences between high-quality roller garage doors and lower-grade alternatives. Through a series of engaging social media videos and in-person appearances, Wolf has become the Hörmann face of security, reliability, and professional installation.

The first phase of the campaign introduced the Door Secure Team, led by Wolf, in a humorous video posted on Facebook and Instagram demonstrating just how easy it is to break into a cheap roller door. The message was clear - homeowners should avoid poor-quality options and instead choose the secure and durable RollMatic T door from Hörmann.

Wolf’s involvement then extended to the FIT Show, where his guest appearance on the Hörmann stand generated strong footfall, interaction, and brand visibility, with his presence creating a memorable experience for all visitors to the stand.

In the second phase, the tone shifted to a more no-nonsense, direct approach. Wolf returned in a series of straight-talking videos that exposed the risks associated with substandard roller doors. These videos also provided homeowners with five essential questions to ask before purchasing a roller door and debunked the common myth that all roller doors are the same.

Building on the campaign’s success, Hörmann have now added a seasonal element. Two new videos - the Halloween-themed Howl-o-ween Horror Show and The Fright Before Christmas have been created. Once again featuring Wolf, they reinforce brand messaging with timely content and consumer-friendly advice.

Throughout the campaign the emphasis has been on the importance of using qualified, trained installers and directs customers to Hörmann’s Dealer Finder to locate a Partner Standard installer – ensuring both product quality and expert installation. The campaign has generated over 140 online enquiries to date, in addition to numerous direct contacts via phone and email to the dealer network. Dealers are seeing real benefits, with sustained interest and increasing orders, supported by strong consumer awareness and education.

David O’Mara, Marketing Manager at Hörmann UK, commented, “It’s clear to see that the Door Secure Team promotion and our partnership with Wolf has been a resounding success. Not only has it delivered hundreds of qualified leads to our dealers, and raised brand and product awareness, but it has also directly contributed to a 35% increase in RollMatic sales compared to the same period last year. Most importantly, it’s helping educate homeowners on the real risks of choosing cheap roller doors. We think we have set a benchmark in the industry with this campaign serving as an example of how targeted, creative marketing can deliver tangible, measurable results.”

THE CLASSIC CAR WORLD CONTINUES TO DEFY ECONOMIC TRENDS

The classic car world continues to defy economic trends with events like the International Historic Motoring Awards (IHMA), presented by Lockton and held at the Peninsula London hotel on November 14th, getting bigger and better each year.

This year’s winners were announced in front of more than 390 guests at a sold-out ceremony, and the evening was hosted by renowned broadcaster and racing driver Amanda Stretton.

David Lillywhite, Editorial Director of IHMA organisers Hothouse Media, said: “The classic car world continues to defy economic trends. The events get bigger and better every year, the restoration companies and specialists set the quality of work higher and higher, and the owners themselves continue to indulge in their passions for the driving and ownership of these remarkable cars. The industry is thriving, and the record attendance of the International Historic Motoring Awards from all around the world is further proof of that.”

Highlights of the Awards included:

  • Star appearance by legendary designer Giorgetto Giugiaro
  • The one-off 1961 Aston Martin DB4 GT Jet on display
  • Guests from around the world, including Australia, New Zealand, USA, UAE, Japan and Europe
  • Celebrity guests including US TV star Wayne Carini, male model David Gandy and comedian Paul Smith
  • Over £7m worth of cars on display outside and inside the venue
  • Representatives from the worlds of collector car restoration, events, motor sport, sales, manufacturing and more
  • More than £20,000 was raised at the event for Sir Jackie Stewart’s Race Against Dementia charity
Legendary and prolific designer Giorgetto Giugario was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award, for his seven decades as one of the most influential automotive designers of all time.

Giugiaro was responsible not just for many of the most iconic cars of the last 70 years but also for motorcycles, watches, furniture, cameras, and even pasta and a cathedral organ. His best-known car designs include the original VW Golf and Fiat Panda, the Maserati Ghibli and the Lotus Esprit. At the awards, he was reunited with the one-off Aston Martin DB4 GT Jet, which he said he last saw when it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961.

Other highlights included the Personal Achievement of the Year award, presented to Tomas de Vargas Machuca for his 37-day, 14,899km drive through 12 countries from Paris to Peking in a 1925 Bentley, and the presentation of the Industry Supporter of the Year to the Heritage Skills Academy, which trains young people in traditional car restoration skills.

Geoff Love, Managing Director of IHMA organisers Hothouse Media, said: “The IHMA’s near-400 crowd and our winners from across the world made one thing clear: historic motoring is in very good hands. Yes, we celebrate the past, but it’s the fresh thinking, the new generations coming through and the incredible craft on display that give this world its real momentum.”

Hörmann Unveils Installer Rewards ‘Frosty Friday’ Promotion

Hörmann UK has announced its Frosty Friday promotion, as part of its installer Rewards programme. The promotion will run on the first three Fridays of December (5th, 12th and 19th), with the first registered installer to log an installation on each of these dates receiving a £50 Amazon gift card.

The Hörmann Rewards programme, which is aimed at individual fitters based in the UK and Northern Ireland, has been recognised as the first independent loyalty scheme of its kind within the industry. The initiative rewards installers with points for every qualifying installation of Hörmann’s featured products, including the full range of Hörmann Truedor composite doors and the RollMatic T garage door. Points can then be redeemed against a selection of rewards.

The process is straightforward, with installers registering via the dedicated Hörmann Rewards website. Installations are logged through a simple three-step process, requiring only a short form and photograph of the door label. Installers can then track their activity, accumulated points, and available rewards via an online dashboard. For further information on the Hörmann Rewards programme and the Frosty Friday promotion, contact your local Hörmann Area Sales Manager or visit

Abloy UK launches new door compliance webinar to educate on emerging legislation

The session has been designed to help attendees to understand compliance by exploring key topics such as NCP 109 Issue 4, the different types of doors and their specific functions and the specification of both wired and wireless access control solutions.

It addresses important regulatory updates, including changes to approved Document B relating to fire safety, the withdrawal of BS 476 and the transition to BS EN 13501 for fire testing as well as the requirements of Regulation 28.

The webinar also looks at new legislation and requirements which have recently come to light including Martyn’s Law, the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Act (PSTI) and the Radio Equipment Directive Delegated Act.

It also provides practical examples of how compliance can be achieved in real-world applications, giving attendees insight into how to implement effective access control and fire safety measures.

Attending the webinar will allow those who are responsible for safety and access control to be better prepared as changes start to be implemented.

Pip Courcoux at Abloy UK, said: “This webinar has been created to provide clear and practical guidance on current and upcoming regulations, while also highlighting how Abloy UK can support organisations with solutions and training.

“Keeping up with regulatory change is essential for anyone responsible for safety and security, and by offering further opportunities to view this webinar, we aim to make the information as accessible as possible. This is to ensure that industry professionals are equipped with all of the knowledge they need.”

How Door Coordinators Ensure Double Fire Doors Close in Perfect Sequence

Allegion UK, a leading name in fire safety hardware and supplier of the Zero Z304 CE fire door coordinator, highlights the vital role of door coordinators in buildings with double fire doors. When your building relies on paired fire doors to create a strong barrier, the sequence in which those doors close is just as important as the doors themselves.

A mis-timed closing can create dangerous gaps, allowing fire and smoke to pass through the building instead of maintaining a continuous, protective seal. This is why door coordinators are essential components for ensuring safety and integrity of double fire doors.

Iain Banks, Product Marketing Manager at Allegion UK, explains: “All fire doors must be fitted with a door closer to ensure they stay closed. However, double fire doors can pose a dangerous risk if they close incorrectly and become ineffective if not fitted with an appropriate fire door coordinator. A correctly fitted fire door coordinator ensures double fire doors always close in the correct sequence, remain firmly closed, and maintain an effective barrier against fire and smoke.”

In other words, the door coordinator is the conductor of a synchronised performance, ensuring both leaves work together to form an effective barrier when every second counts.

Providing precision, performance & peace of mind

With a unique surface rebate catch, the Z304 guarantees the correct closing sequence of your double fire doors every time. Not simply an enhancement; a door coordinator is a safety-critical component designed to preserve the integrity of passive fire protection throughout the lifecycle of a building.

Robust and versatile, the Z304 door coordinator is suitable for both timber and steel fire doors. It provides specifiers, architects, and building managers with rigorous, standards-based assurance, carrying CE and UKCA marks to EN 1158:1997 and being assessed to BS EN 1634-1:2014. In a sector where compliance and performance are non-negotiable, the Z304 CE fire door coordinator offers tangible peace of mind that the product will perform as intended in real-world conditions.

Iain Banks continues: “The Z304 fire door coordinator prevents double doors from operating out of sequence, eliminates unintended gaps, and supports a building’s passive fire protection strategy. It also simplifies maintenance, reduces callouts for misaligned doors, and demonstrates a clear commitment to occupant safety and regulatory compliance.”

A dependable door coordinator is essential when double fire doors are expected to do precisely what the design intends, stopping the spread of fire and smoke in its tracks. The Zero Z304 CE fire door coordinator embodies Allegion UK’s commitment to safety, reliability, and practical performance for the most demanding commercial environments.

ADAPTED SUBARU BRZ SET COMPETES AT RACE OF REMEMBRANCE 2025

Mission Motorsport held the eleventh annual Race of Remembrance at Anglesey circuit on the weekend of November 8 & 9.

As one of the key fundraising pillars of the year, the Mission Motorsport Race of Remembrance brings together teams from across the UK and beyond to raise money for the charity, celebrate the armed forces community, and show support during the 12h endurance event.

Unique to the Race of Remembrance, all activities and track action are paused at 10:45, allowing all competitors, pit crews, marshals, staff, and supporters to come together as one in a special pitlane service of remembrance.

Subaru UK & Ireland continued its support for Mission Motorsport and the charity’s specifically modified Subaru BRZ. This particular race car has been fully adapted to enable individuals with lower limb disabilities to race against fellow competitors on an even basis, utilising the car’s hand-controlled throttle and braking system. For the 2025 Race of Remembrance, the Subaru BRZ will be driven by Mike Smith, Dom Pearson and two others, with last year’s lead driver Steve Binns acting as this year’s driver coach.

James Cameron, CEO of Mission Motorsport, said, “Motorsport has no disabled category. You modify the vehicles, through engineering, to allow drivers to compete on a level playing field with able-bodied drivers, and this is amazingly empowering. The Race of Remembrance has grown and is now in its eleventh year, and has become a true highlight on our calendar, bringing our community together on a particularly poignant weekend for us all."

Speaking at the Race of Remembrance launch event, held recently at Thruxton race circuit, Brian Wheeler, PR Manager at Subaru UK & Ireland, commented, “We are proud to continue our support for Mission Motorsport and the important work the charity undertakes. The modified Subaru BRZ is not only an excellently balanced, stable race car, but the hand controls allow the team of drivers to compete in this highly competitive field and enjoy their racing.”

Mission Motorsport has also launched a powerful community-led campaign called ‘YourRoR’, inviting motorsport fans, beneficiaries & supporters of Mission Motorsport to mark Race of Remembrance with personal challenges that raise vital funds - helping Mission Motorsport support the armed forces community.

More than a fundraising initiative, YourRoR is a heartfelt invitation to unite as a community and honour the true spirit of Race of Remembrance. Those wishing to support the cause can do so #YourRoR - JustGiving
