CONSORT ARCHITECTURAL HARDWARE UNVEILS FIRST PHASE OF BIM AND CAD FILE ROLLOUT

Consort Architectural Hardware has announced the first phase of a strategic rollout of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and CAD capabilities across its range of ironmongery products, with an aim of supporting customers and enhancing digital collaboration throughout the construction supply chain.

In this initial phase, Consort has released BIM and digital assets for more than seventy of its high-demand ironmongery products, including levers, door closers, concealed bearing hinges, backset locks, and panic and exit devices. This milestone marks the start of an ambitious programme to provide BIM and CAD files for its entire portfolio of product categories, reinforcing the manufacturer’s commitment to transparency, digital integration and customer support.

BIM continues to play a central role in the design, delivery and maintenance of modern construction projects, and Consort’s initiative responds directly to the rising demand for accurate and accessible product information across the built environment.

Daniel May, Director at Consort Architectural Hardware discusses the ongoing project: “As construction standards evolve and regulations advance, the architectural hardware sector must continue to innovate and adapt to meet the needs of a progressive, digital-first industry.

“We recognise the call for reliable, detailed digital product information is growing louder, and the first step of our BIM rollout reflects Consort’s ongoing support to specifiers, contractors and architects as they navigate compliance, efficiency and coordination at each stage of the project lifecycle.

“By offering structured BIM files that cover all compliance, certification and performance data across our growing library of products, we’re empowering professionals to meet both practical and regulatory requirements whilst supporting faster specification, cleaner scheduling and improved collaboration."

Phase two of Consort’s BIM rollout is scheduled for release in early 2026 and will expand the digital library into deeper hardware categories, covering narrow profile hardware and less-represented mortice items such as flush bolts and thumb turns. This continued development will further support customers throughout the door scheduling process and ensure professionals have access to comprehensive, compliant digital product information.

To request the full library of Consort’s BIM documentation, please email marketing@consort-hw.com or visit Consort Architectural Hardware | Overview | NBS BIM Library for selected products. For more information about Consort Architectural Hardware, visit: www.consort-hw.com

ASSA ABLOY achieves ISO 27001 certification across multiple sites and business units

ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions EMEIA is proud to announce that it has achieved ISO 27001 certification across multiple sites and business units – underlining the company’s strong commitment to information security.

The certification has now been granted to 15 key ASSA ABLOY sites across Europe, including ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions EMEIA DAS R&D; ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions Nordic Business Area; and ASSA ABLOY Ltd in Willenhall, UK.

ISO 27001 is the global standard that defines best practice for managing information security risks. Addressing evolving cyber threats and strengthening resilience across digital ecosystems, it demonstrates that an organisation has implemented systematic controls to protect information assets – providing assurance to customers, partners and regulators.

Achieving ISO 27001 certification reflects ASSA ABLOY’s dedication to digital security, not just physical security. It proves that the company’s products and digital services are developed and managed within a rigorously controlled environment, where risks are continually assessed, data is protected by design, and resilience is built into every stage of the process.

Furthermore, while ISO 27001 is not legally mandated in the security industry, the certifications demonstrate ASSA ABLOY’s commitment to going beyond the baseline requirements to provide a true competitive advantage for its customers.

They also underline ASSA ABLOY’s commitment to meeting the requirements of the EU’s NIS2 directive and preparing for the Cyber Resilience Act. Alongside ISO 27001, the company’s secure development practices ensure products are designed with cybersecurity in mind and undergo rigorous risk assessments and incident reporting.

Kelly Gill, Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer at ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions EMEIA, comments: “The days when security threats to businesses were only physical are long gone. Today, we find ourselves in a world where the digital environment poses even more serious and constantly evolving challenges.

“At ASSA ABLOY, our approach to security is embedded in every stage of product development and service delivery, not least the digital space. Certifications like ISO 27001, as well as our adherence to NIS2 and the CRA, show our determination to safeguard customer data and ensure operational integrity.

“The journey doesn’t stop here. We are now expanding the scope of ISO 27001 certification across the business, ensuring that customers and partners can place even greater trust in ASSA ABLOY for secure and compliant digital solutions.”

The Door Industry Challenge – Thermal Expansion

Thermal expansion remains a major challenge across the door industry: elevated and prolonged heatwaves mean door systems are under more stress than ever, causing misalignment, compromised performance, increased service visits, higher maintenance costs, and frustration both for installers and end users.

With record high temperatures continuing, these conditions are not going away, and neither are the inefficiencies they create for fabricators and installers.

The release of the latest Keystone Summer 2025 Consumer Trends Report shows homeowners are placing a growing emphasis on the performance and reliability of their door and window hardware. While aesthetics still matter, functionality, security, and ease of use are leading the decision-making process for many buyers.

The Winkhaus autoLock AV4 is engineered for dependable performance in challenging conditions, across materials and usage environments.

A Lock That Works When Others Do not.

  • The autoLock AV4 delivers the reliability and install-friendliness both fabricators and installers need:
  • Independent testing shows AV4 requires up to 70% less force to operate than many alternatives, significantly reducing wear and tear, making it easier to use, and extending product life.
  • It locks automatically on door closure, engaging two anti-push-back hooks without needing to lift a handle or turn a key.
  • PAS24 compliant and approved under the Police ‘Secured by Design’ initiative, delivering peace of mind for security as well as everyday practicality.
  • With its wide tolerance hook-design, the AV4 is better able to cope with door movement from thermal expansion, settlement, or frame shift, meaning fewer adjustments and less wear-out risk.
Built for Efficiency in Fabrication & Installation

For fabricators and installers, AV4 simplifies life:
  • The AV4 is non-handed, meaning one version fits left or right doors. This can reduce stockholding by up to 50% and simplify ordering and manufacturing.
  • Share routing with other Winkhaus multi-point locks improves interchangeability and streamlines fabrication.
  • Its robust performance under shifting door frames means fewer call-backs, fewer service visits, and more satisfied clients.
Proven in the Field, Backed by End Users

In independent user testing (field-simulation beyond standard industry tolerance levels), AV4 consistently out-performed competitor locks: users reported ease of operation, reliability, and long-term benefits.

A landlord, Javaria, commented: “Over time, doors become inherently more difficult to open. AV4 will reduce callouts and be easier to use for tenants in the future.”

A homeowner, Lee, said: “Even as the door gets older and is open to the elements and wear and tear, it works, it was absolutely excellent.”

Why This Matters Now

With rising ambient temperatures and prolonged heatwaves, doors (especially those in large, glazed entrances or exposed façades) are more prone to warping and frame shift due to thermal expansion and contraction. A lock mechanism designed with tolerance and low operating force is increasingly important.

End-users are more conscious of usability, they want doors that continue to function reliably year after year, with minimal adjustment.

Fabricators and installers face increasing pressure to reduce call-backs and service costs. A high-tolerance, low-wear lock like the AV4 helps them protect margins and reputation.

Security remains a major concern, the research showing 58.5% of consumers see room for improvement in current door locks underscores the demand.

Summary

In an environment where doors are under greater strain than ever, from thermal movement, material shifts, user demands and security concerns, the autoLock AV4 stands out as a smart solution. It offers low-force operation, wide tolerance design, automatic engagement, non-handed simplicity, and compatibility with smart and access-control upgrades.

For manufacturers, fabricators and installers looking to deliver better outcomes, fewer service visits, happier customers, and stronger value, AV4 is a compelling upgrade. And for end-users, it translates into doors that keep working, whatever the weather or the demands.

IP System & Communication Platform Integrate

DoorBird, a global leader in IP video door intercom systems, is proud to announce a new integration with Telecor’s eSeries Public Address and Intercom Solution. This collaboration brings together DoorBird’s advanced IP video technology with Telecor’s robust communication platform, delivering a unified solution for smarter, more secure facility access and communication.

DoorBird’s high-definition IP video door stations are trusted worldwide in residential, commercial, and institutional settings. With real-time video and audio communication, remote access control, and seamless integration capabilities, DoorBird devices enhance entryway security and user convenience.

Telecor’s eSeries is a next-generation, Ethernet-based communication system widely adopted in K–12 schools and other critical facilities. It supports both routine communications—such as classroom-to-office calls and scheduled announcements—and emergency notifications. The system can be deployed as a full IP solution or integrated with existing analog infrastructure, offering a flexible and cost-effective upgrade path.

Through this integration, when a visitor presses the call button on a DoorBird device, an alert is instantly triggered on the Telecor eSeries Visual Console. Staff can view a live video feed, communicate directly, and initiate predefined actions such as unlocking doors—all from a single, unified interface. This streamlined workflow enhances situational awareness and strengthens front entrance security.

The integrated solution complies with key regulatory standards, including FCC and IC, and is engineered for reliable performance in both indoor and outdoor environments.

“We’re excited to partner with Telecor to deliver smarter, more connected entryway solutions,” said Matthew Fullford, Integration Development Manager. “With Telecor’s extensive experience in campus and facility communication systems, this integration creates a powerful combination of intuitive access control and real-time communication that enhances security and streamlines response.”

Innovative split spindle simplifies apartment lock installation

A new clip-fix split spindle from ARRONE, a HOPPE Group brand, has been developed to improve the installation process of the AR915 apartment lock.

The AR227 split spindle is designed to address challenges faced while installing escape locks. A split spindle is required to allow for the independent operation of a set of lever handles on either side while maintaining escape and security functions from the inside.

Using an innovative clip-fix mechanism, the new split spindle removes the risk of overtightening which may occur with a traditional type of split spindle during assembly, as there is no need to screw the two halves together manually. This ensures the consistent independent movement of the lock follower – a critical requirement for emergency egress functionality.

Dan Savage, design engineer at HOPPE (UK), explains: “We identified a need for an improved product to overcome the challenges of overtightening of a split follower spindle. The new split spindle solves this issue with a user-friendly clip-fix design that requires no adjustment. It is faster to install and eliminates potential errors during the installation process."

This split spindle in combination with the ARRONE AR915 apartment lock ensures secure locking from the outside while maintaining emergency egress capabilities from the inside. This makes it an ideal solution for multi-occupancy buildings, such as apartments, hotels, and other residential or commercial environments.

Dan added: “This innovation not only speeds up fitting – being up to five times faster to install compared with traditional spindles – but also improves the longevity and effectiveness of the lock assembly.”

The AR915 apartment lock is available for 44mm, door thicknesses, a 54mm and 64mm spindle is also available on request to suit a range of applications. The AR227 has been fully tested to maintain compliance with AR915’s certifications, including CE and Certifire.

Ferrari 12Cilindri Tailor Made: inspired by tradition, driven by innovation

Ferrari unveils the new Tailor Made 12Cilindri that is the celebration of the pinnacle of craftsmanship in it its flagship personalisation programme. This unique Ferrari raises the bar once again with an interpretation of road-going art exclusively for the South Korean market featuring several elements inspired by tradition and driven by innovation.

This extraordinary Tailor Made vehicle is the result of a multidisciplinary collaboration spanning three continents: Asia, with the artisanal mastery of four young South Korean artists, ambassadors of their local heritage: Daehye Jeong, Hyunhee Kim, GRAYCODE, jiiiiin, and TaeHyun Lee; Europe, with Ferrari’s Styling Centre and North America, with the vision and expertise of COOL HUNTING®, the award-winning independent publication dedicated to the latest intersections of design, culture and technology.

Over the course of nearly two years the teams faced exciting challenges, blending Ferrari’s legendary engineering and design expertise with COOL HUNTING®’S creative vision, translating the vibrant artistic and cultural energy of Korea into a one-of-a-kind creation from the Prancing Horse.

The Ferrari 12Cilindri draws inspiration from the iconic Ferrari Gran Turismo models of the 1950s and 1960s, fully embodying the mission of front-engined V12 Ferraris with two seats: a perfect blend of elegance, versatility, and performance. It represents the latest evolution of this prestigious lineage, carrying forward a unique heritage while raising it to new standards of performance, comfort, and design. Its forms express sportiness, class, and refinement: simple, harmonious lines merge with innovative solutions such as integrated active aerodynamics, designed to deliver unmatched performance, and the reverse-opening bonnet that highlights the engine bay.

Completing the picture is the signature double pair of exhaust pipes, a hallmark of Ferrari’s twelve-cylinder engines. Under the bonnet beats the new naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12, delivering 830 cv and revving up to 9,500 rpm, offering linear power delivery and an unmistakable soundtrack. With a top speed exceeding 340 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in around 3.0 seconds, the Ferrari 12Cilindri redefines the concept of the modern Gran Turismo, combining extreme performance with uncompromising sophistication.

This 12Cilindri is instantly recognisable thanks to its new transitional Yoonseul paint scheme, specially developed by the team. This unique colour is inspired by Korean tradition, fusing the history and heritage of the region with inspiration from Celadon ceramics, with its many shades of green, and the allure of cosmopolitan Seoul, pulsing to the rhythm of K-pop, electronic music, and the neon lights of the city’s future-forward districts. The result is a vivid, iridescent finish that shifts from green to violet with blue highlights, reminiscent of the sparkling sunlight on the sea, Yoonseul in Korean.

Traditional horsehair weaving is being revisited by the work of artist Dahye Jeong, winner of the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize in 2022, a Korean artist who has gained international acclaim in textile craftsmanship and fibre art. Through her unique hand weaving, Jeong creates works of extraordinary fineness, lightness, and transparency, seemingly suspended in air. Her creations – baskets, containers and abstract forms – interact with light and shadow, evoking delicacy, spirituality, and refined contemporary sensibility.

Her work is featured in this one-of-a-kind Tailor Made vehicle in multiple ways: the fabric used on the seats, floor and soft surfaces feature one of her iconic patterns, brought to life in a new 3-D fabric developed by a South Korean company and used in a Ferrari for the first time; the glass roof of the 12Cilindri features a screen printing of the pattern, allowing the same interplay of shadows and projections as light passes through, again a first in a Ferrari; most iconically, a hand woven work made from Mongolian horsehair, sourced from suppliers certified by the local Chamber of Commerce, is featured on the dashboard, providing the unique opportunity of having an art work integrated into the vehicle’s interior. These firsts could only be achieved by intense collaboration between the Ferrari Styling Centre, R&D team and the creative partners.

Hyunhee Kim innovates with material to reinterpret traditional Korean objects through a critical, contemporary lens. Her well-known Korean wedding trousseaus are built in an ethereal, semi-translucent acrylic to bring life to their role as “containers of memories.” Kim frequently creates transparent objects, sometimes suspended in space, evoking lightness and fragility, crafting an immersive, dreamlike environment. Her work has been acknowledged by several prestigious prizes, including the Cheongju International Craft Award and the Iksan National Craft Award.

Visible across in the vehicle’s exterior, Kim’s translucent work can be seen in the vehicle’s distinctive Scuderia Ferrari shields, its wheel caps, long F nameplate and Prancing Horse, together representing a level of customisation seen in a Tailor Made vehicle for the first time. The interior features a unique modification to the centre tunnel with the same translucent effect, alongside a handmade dedication plate with the project’s name in traditional calligraphy by the artist.

Kim also created a traditional case for valuable and meaningful items for the boot of this 12Cilindri, which the collector can use as a luggage case. This piece also holds an object in the form of a Ferrari key customised to her visual language, so that the owner can fully experience her varied and original practices.

White, in turn, becomes the leitmotif for various interior and exterior elements, inspired by the artistic research of TaeHyun Lee. Known for his work in contemporary art, Lee is particularly recognised for his use of traditional Korean techniques including lacquer, which he reinterprets in a modern context through his white lacquer using a technique that is extremely complex. His works often combine modern materials with lacquer, creating glossy, reflective surfaces of striking visual impact. Through lacquer, Lee explores concepts such as layering, depth, and the transformation of matter, bridging Korean artisanal tradition with the language of contemporary art. His vision gave rise to the 12Cilindri’s unique white brake callipers - a first for a factory-made Ferrari and white shift paddles.

Electronic music sets the rhythm for this Ferrari’s exterior livery thanks to the meticulous work of GRAYCODE, jiiiiin. This South Korean sound and performance artist duo, renowned for their performances and installations exploring sound, space, and the intersection of technology and art, have visualised the iconic Ferrari V12 sound—literally translating the sound of the 12Cilindri’s engine into a visual artwork masterfully rendered on the vehicle’s bodywork by Maranello’s artisans. The technique used to add visual depth to this livery was applied using the same transitional paint, but one shade darker — a new and unique treatment seen for the first time on a Ferrari.

Evan Orensten and Josh Rubin, the creative minds behind COOL HUNTING®, inspired and coordinated the work of the artists alongside JaeEun “Jane” Lee, who served as the project’s curator, and the Ferrari design and R&D teams.

Super duo lock in GAI Education Awards recognition

Two specialists in architectural ironmongery and door hardware have been recognised for their commitment to learning at the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers’ (GAI) Education Awards 2025.

Rob Adams, technical manager for ARRONE, a HOPPE (UK) brand, was awarded a Diploma in Access Control and Electric Hardware – as well as the Certificate in Standards and Regulations for the second year running – while sales executive Aimee celebrated achieving her Diploma in Scheduling.

Rob is responsible for ensuring all new and existing products have the right certifications, and that the evidence for CE/UKCA marking is in place. Rob said: “Standards and regulations are updated and changed so regularly that it’s vital to stay on top of learning in this area. Knowledge here is key because compliance with standards must drive every design and installation decision in our industry – they really are the foundation of both safety and reliability.”

Aimee said: “The diploma has been invaluable in strengthening my technical understanding within the industry and giving me a more structural approach when working. It’s already reaping significant benefits as I am applying the skills I have learned to help meet customers’ requirements and offer bespoke advice on product selection.”

At the ceremony, HOPPE (UK) CEO Ged Ryan also presented the top three achievements for the Diploma in Door Systems – an award the company sponsored for 2025.

Ged said: “Even in their 45th year, these awards remain one of the most important in the calendar because they recognise our industry’s rising stars, leaders and those who are steadfastly committed to continuing professional development.

“The recognition Rob and Aimee have received today is richly deserved. They exemplify what the GAI Education Awards are about: commitment to learning and career development, and a determination to continue HOPPE’s reputation for quality and the highest standards of knowledge and skill.”

Fullex Crimebeater Autolock Rose advances security and compatibility for fire doors

UAP Ltd has announced the launch of its Fullex Autolock Rose, an innovative evolution of the popular Fullex Slam Shut Autolock, designed to deliver enhanced security and greater compatibility with modern doors.

Suitable for use with timber, composite, 44mm/54 or thicker, the Fullex Autolock is specifically engineered to meet the needs of the fire door market, offering installers and homeowners a versatile and robust solution for contemporary construction projects.

Building on the success of the Crimebeater Slam Shut Autolock, the Fullex Autolock Rose introduces a deeper 55mm gearbox, while its flexible design supports two handle spindle options either lever on backplate or lever on rose, so allowing easy integration with a range of door designs. It also boasts a new and improved hardened gearbox casing made from a stronger plate material that ensures a higher degree of resistance to attack.

The lock continues to offer fire-rated protection, supporting FD30 and FD60 timber and composite doors when used with perfectly cut intumescent kits, delivering confidence and peace of mind for both installers and end users.

Reliability and long-term performance remain at the heart of the Fullex Autolock’s design. The lock has been endurance tested for 200,000 full cycles and is BSEN1670 Grade 5 corrosion-resistant certified, providing 480 hours of protection against environmental wear.

It is Secured by Design accredited and PAS 24 compatible, and when combined with a Kitemarked Euro Cylinder via the Kinetica Freezeguard 3-star euro cylinder system, it offers an additional layer of security. Supplied as a complete set with strike plate options, the Fullex Autolock Rose ensures fire-rated protection while simplifying specification and installation.

Richard Morris at UAP Ltd, said: “At UAP, we are always looking for ways to drive progress in security hardware. The Fullex Crimebeater Autolock Rose represents our latest step forward - improving on an already trusted product to deliver enhanced compatibility, flexibility, and durability for modern fire doors. It’s our commitment to making homes and buildings safer without compromising on quality or convenience.”

Next Generation Safety with the ISEO Push Electro Motorised Panic Bar

In an era where safety, hygiene, and smart building functionality converge, M Marcus Ltd is proud to announce its partnership with ISEO to bring to market a transformative new product, the Push Electro motorised panic bar. This is not just an incremental upgrade, it’s a meaningful leap in how we think about emergency exits, access control, and user wellbeing.

Traditional panic bars have long served their purpose as mechanical safety devices: simple, robust, and reliable. But modern buildings demand more. High-traffic areas — such as hospitals, schools, offices, and public institutions — need solutions that can handle constant flow, integrate with electronic systems, and maintain rigorous hygiene standards. The Push Electro meets these needs.

Intelligent Motorisation for Effortless Access

Thanks to its built-in motor, the Push Electro can open the door automatically, triggered via buttons, switches, or access-control systems. This reduces reliance on manual operation, offering a smoother, more controlled exit.

Flexible Operating Modes

Hold-Open: For times when doors need to remain open (e.g. during busy hours) the hold-open function keeps them unlocked, though this should not be used in fire-rated doors for safety compliance.

Seamless Integration with Access Control

Push Electro integrates with ISEO’s access control platforms, including existing systems. That means buildings can retrofit or expand their security architecture without ripping everything out, an important consideration for renovations or phased upgrades.

Permanent Antibacterial Protection

Hygiene is built into the device. The Push Electro is treated with AntiGerm®, a permanent antibacterial coating that continuously releases silver ions to reduce bacteria by up to 99% over its lifespan and with no maintenance needed.

In settings like hospitals, clinics, schools, and other high-sensitivity environments, this level of protection is a game changer.

Safety doesn’t just mean a secure exit, it means knowing the door’s status. The Push Electro provides real-time feedback on whether the door is open or closed, enabling proactive security management.

Complying with EN 1125, the device meets the rigorous European standard for panic exit devices.

Furthermore, its self-locking steel latchbolts enhance physical security and reliability.

The Push Electro is available in a range of finishes including black, metal grey, white, and a durable “ENDUR4NCE” finish, so it can blend seamlessly with the architectural style of any building.

For existing installations, there’s even a motor retrofit kit, enabling the motorisation of existing Push rim devices without full replacement.

For M Marcus Ltd, this launch is more than just adding a new product to our catalogue , it's about championing smarter, safer, and more future-proof building design. As a leading UK distributor of high-quality security hardware, our mission is to align with manufacturers who are genuinely pushing the boundaries. The ISEO Push Electro is exactly that: innovation that does not compromise on compliance or robustness.

The ability to retrofit existing panic hardware with motorisation means our clients can modernise their infrastructure in a cost-effective, minimally disruptive way. Coupled with its hygiene credentials and tight integration into access-control ecosystems, the Push Electro represents a strategic investment for architects, specifiers, and facility managers alike.

The introduction of ISEO's Push Electro by M Marcus Ltd is a clear statement: safety hardware is evolving. No longer should emergency exits be purely mechanical afterthoughts, they can and should be part of a broader, intelligent access-control strategy. With the Push Electro, M Marcus is delivering a product that doesn’t just keep people safe it offers smarter, cleaner, more controllable exits.

We believe that in the coming years, motorised panic bars like the Push Electro will become the norm, not the exception. And M Marcus Ltd is excited to lead that shift in the UK market.
