Innovative Slimline Internal Fire Door launched by Schüco Jansen

Steel systems specialist, Schüco Jansen, has introduced a new internal fire door with the slimmest sightlines available on the UK market for an internal fire rated system.

The Jansen Art’15 Fire NR E-EW fire protection door system is designed for safety with no compromise on style.

The new system is an evolution of the popular non-insulated Jansen Art’15 steel door and partition wall system and, like the original, features an extremely slimline, attractive profile. The latest Jansen Art’15 system also brings an impressive level of fire resistance.

Tested to British and European standards (BS EN 1634-1: 2014), the system achieves fire integrity and radiation resistance classes E/EW30 to E/EW120, as well as smoke protection class Sa.

The extensive testing of the Jansen Art’15 Fire NR E-EW includes all standard single and double-leaf door configurations, with optional sidelights and toplights included. The system provides fire protection from both sides and can accommodate both equal and unequal double leaf doors.

The integrity of the door, in terms of its fire resistance, has been assessed for periods from 30 to 120 minutes for both single and double* leaf doorsets. The doorset is suited to a wide range of applications and has been tested in all standard building structures and components, as per EN 1363-1.

The Jansen Art’15 Fire NR E-EW offers impressive design flexibility. The system accommodates a wide variety of glazing bar configurations, as well as the option of infill panels rather than glazing in the sidelights.

Designers can choose from a large selection of glass that has been assessed for use within the system, including Pyroguard and any Certifire approved glass, approved for use in non-insulated steel doorsets for periods of up to 120 minutes integrity.

The system offers the choice to forgo a lock, improving ease of use, as well as optional integrated door closers. A range of slimline door hinges - in both steel and stainless steel - provides an elevated look and allows individual design requirements to be achieved.

For further information, please email mkinfobox@schueco.com, call 01908 282 111, or visit:
www.schueco.com

*Double leaf opening towards the fire only – opening away from the fire is assessed to 90 minutes integrity.

Loxta's New STEALTH Commander Range – Next Generation High Security Hardware

Loxta, the family-owned manufacturer of premium door hardware, announces the launch of its new STEALTH Commander door handle product range, setting a new benchmark for residential and commercial security solutions in the UK market.

The STEALTH Commander suite represents a significant advancement in door hardware, becoming the UK's first easily retrofittable high-security door handle and only the second product in the market to achieve the prestigious Sold Secure Silver certification under the rigorous SS301 test attack – a standard that surpasses the widely recognised 2* security rating (equivalent to Sold Secure Bronze).

In addition to this achievement, the Stealth Commander has secured the coveted Secured by Design status, adhering to the rigorous test standards required by the UK police.

Shaun Singh, Managing Director at Loxta says:
“The STEALTH Commander isn't just another security product – it's a complete rethinking of how we approach door security in both new builds and existing properties.
“With increasingly sophisticated break-in methods being employed by criminals, we wanted to create a security solution that doesn't compromise on security, style or versatility.”
Uncompromising Security with Unparalleled Flexibility

What sets the STEALTH Commander apart is its comprehensive approach to security challenges across different property types.

Unlike traditional security handles that require specific door preparations, the Stealth Commander suite includes multiple plate formats designed to accommodate various locking systems used by fabricators, locksmiths and ironmongers alike – including multipoint locks, DIN locks, sash locks, and patio door systems.

The innovative extra-long plate version features fixing centres of 240mm, enabling installation with fixings positioned both above and below the lock case – the first security door handle in the UK to achieve this.

For maximum flexibility, the STEALTH Commander suite comes in 3 different backplate options and 6 handle variations to help customers meet their security needs across a diverse range of requirements.

Built to Last in Any Environment

The external side of the STEALTH Commander is manufactured from marine-grade SS316 stainless steel, ensuring superior corrosion resistance regardless of environmental conditions.

This commitment to quality is further enhanced by the internally sprung mechanism with a replaceable springing system, designed for long-term reliability and maintenance.

Unlike most high-security products that prioritise function over form, the STEALTH Commander has been designed with aesthetics in mind, offering a stylish alternative to the typically bulky and utilitarian appearance of security door handles.

Design Versatility and Complete Property Solutions

The STEALTH Commander offers an extensive suite of handle designs to suit different aesthetic preferences, from modern stylish options to functional designs that meet DDA requirements.

This variety ensures that security never comes at the expense of design intent, allowing architects, developers and fabricators to maintain their design vision while enhancing security.

Furthermore, the STEALTH Commander can be complemented with the wider STEALTH suite of products, providing truly concurrent design across entire developments.

This comprehensive approach enables consistent door and window handle designs throughout the exterior and interior of a property, creating a cohesive and harmonious aesthetic.

Manufacturing Excellence and Partnership Opportunities

With manufacturing roots dating back to 1987, Loxta brings decades of expertise to the STEALTH Commander suite.

Loxta manages the entire production process in-house, offering unmatched flexibility for OEM and cobranded solutions.

This end-to-end manufacturing capability allows Loxta to adapt quickly to market demands and customise solutions for specific technical and marketing requirements.

About Loxta

With a legacy of crafting architectural ironmongery since 1987, Loxta is a family-owned, globally trusted manufacturer of high-security and architectural hardware.

Freezer and Cold Room doors now available from Hörmann

Hörmann UK has announced that it has expanded its Construction Project range of doors to include insulated hinged and sliding doors for cold rooms and freezers.

The doors are suitable for cold rooms at temperatures as low as 0°C and freezers at –28°C, making them ideal for use in cold storage facilities, supermarkets and the food processing industry.

The cold storage doors HID-80 (hinged) and HIS-80 (sliding) are manufactured with an 80mm thick door leaf that is foamed with polyurethane (PU). Both doors feature bespoke sealing technology to prevent energy loss. Meanwhile, the new freezer doors HID-120 (hinged) and HIS-120 (sliding) are manufactured with a 120mm foamed with PU door leaf, offering impressive insulation.

Both freezer door variants are fitted with an integrated, self-regulating frame heating feature that prevents the sealing around the door frame from freezing while minimising energy consumption. This extends the life of the seal and ensures that the doors can be opened easily at any time. All the door seals can be easily removed and replaced in case of maintenance.

Both the cold storage doors and the sliding freezer doors are manually operated. They are fitted with extra-large rollers to ensure easy handling with little force required and are available with either a wall or bottom guide. They can also be combined with Hörmann double-action doors, meaning that whilst the sliding door is open during the storage or removal of goods, the double-action door keeps the cold air in the cold room/freezer, reducing energy consumption.

All doors are delivered to the site having undergone extensive prefabrication, meaning that they can be quickly and easily fitted in front of the wall opening within a thermo-block frame.

The hinged doors are available up to a maximum size of 1100mm × 2300mm, whilst the maximum size for the sliding doors is 4000mm × 2800mm. They are available in two hardwearing surface finishes: stainless steel with a polished or matt circular textured finish or galvanised stainless steel in Grey White (RAL 9002). RAL colours of choice are available as an option.

For further information on Hörmann cold storage and freezer doors, visit Insulated Doors for the Cold Rooms and Freezers on the Hörmann website or call 01530 516868.

W20 Steel Screens Define Spaces in Modern Mansion

A longstanding member of the
Steel Window Association has helped the designers of a luxurious modern mansion delineate and enhance a variety of living and functional spaces using clear and privacy-glazed steel-framed screens throughout the multi-million pound property's main floors.

Cotswold Casements was awarded the contract for the five-bedroom home, which commands spectacular views down a valley, and employs a steel-framed structure with blockwork cladding finished in crisp white render to reference the Art Deco era.

The lower ground floor houses the garage and plant rooms, while the impressive scale main entrance door opens onto a storm lobby sheltered by the first of the 3500mm tall steel screens. Most of the screens feature inset matching pass doors in a RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey polyester powder coat finish.

The ground floor contains all of the bedrooms, where a variety of different-sized W20 screens are glazed with ‘Reeded’ glass front shower areas and toilets. Also on the ground floor are a cinema room and large gymnasium, where a 16-metre-long screen runs the length of the room to separate it from a lounge area.

However, around the first-floor atrium area, Cotswold Casements has facilitated genuine visual creativity. A quadrangle of W20 screens surrounds the top of the central staircase, offering access to the four wings, where the main lounge, kitchen, study and spectacular cantilevered dining room are located.

The Managing Director for Cotswold Casements, Matthew Hahn, commented:
“The property totals some 16,000 square feet and is quite deep plan, so the glazed screens serve not just to offer privacy and separation, but also help to ensure there is ample natural light entering the central parts of the building. The W20 ‘equal leg’ sections are elegant, while many of the screens feature reeded glass which is becoming increasingly popular.
“An acoustic laminate was specified throughout for safety and sound reduction, while most of the pass doors are fitted with magnetic closers for convenience - and the design omitted threshold bars to create level access. Overall, the aesthetic result graces a beautiful new build.”
The homeowner comments:
“We had an outstanding experience with The Cotswold Casement Company. The attention to detail was second to none, and the team worked closely with us throughout the design process to ensure every requirement was met.
“The quality of craftsmanship is simply superb, and the result has truly enhanced the overall design of our home. We couldn’t be happier – the finished product is both beautiful and functional. Highly recommend!”

Rocket Man’s ride rocks up for auction

An Aston Martin once owned by music legend Sir Elton John is due to hit the right note with fans and car enthusiasts when it goes under the hammer on Wednesday 9th April.

H&H Classics is offering the 1995 DB7 for sale at its auction of classic, collector and performance motorcars at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, Cambridgeshire.

Sir Elton was the car’s first owner and the original warranty card in his name, along with a copy of its first V5 document, is included.

John Markey, motorcar specialist at H&H Classics, said:
“Sir Elton John clearly has a very good taste in cars as the DB7 is regarded as a modern masterpiece.
“This desirable 5-speed manual transmission example is low mileage and finished in the eye-catching British Racing Green paintwork, so we expect there to be a lot of interest from fans of Sir Elton John and car lovers alike.”
The Rocket Man’s former Aston Martin, which is expected to fetch between £23,000 £27,000, has had just two other subsequent owners and has covered only a mere 14,500 miles from new.

Its enviable specification includes a top-of-the-range Alpine stereo with remote control, a 6-stack CD changer in the boot with a large Alpine V12 amplifier (a non-standard installation to the specification laid down by Sir Elton) and a Motorola car phone in the centre console under the armrest.

It also has heated front seats, cruise control and Aston Martin Stage 1 stainless steel rear exhausts.

John added:

“As well as looking amazing, the DB7 boasts top performance figures and could easily reach over 160mph.
“This is a cosseted example, which means that after 20 years, it is still standing and would be a great addition for enthusiasts wanting to own a car with celebrity appeal.”
All lots will be available to view in person at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, from midday on Tuesday, April 8th, to 9am on Wednesday, April 9th, while the sale commences at 1pm.

Anyone looking to bid on one of the lots can do so in person, online, by telephone or by leaving a commission bid.

For more details about any of the cars or to register to bid, visit www.handh.co.uk.
