Have Your Say at The CITB NVQ Meeting

A meeting has been called on the 5th October 2017 at the Yew Lodge Hotel, Packington Hill, Kegworth DE74 2DF for all employers to discuss the current NVQ/NOS and its content and to find a way forward.

The meeting will start at 10:30, and is scheduled to finish at 14:30 a lunch will be provided.  An agenda for this meeting will be distributed during the week commencing Monday 18 September 2017. CITB will pay for your travel expenses.

Who will be there?

On this occasion, the Associations and Federations have been invited to the meeting as well as employers and members of the associations.

Why you need to be there.

As you may already know The ADIA BS EN16005 course and exam, accredited by City & Guilds, has been audited by CITB and CSCS.

It has been deemed by these representative bodies to be the equivalent to the NVQ Level 2, Skilled Workers Card for the Installation/Service and Repair of Automatic Doors. However, there has been opposition regarding our course receiving this partnership with CSCS. This is because it is believed that the ADIA BS EN16005 CSCS card is unnecessary due to there being an NVQ.

The ADIA are of the belief that our CSCS cards are a necessary requirement to show the skills of engineers who work on automatic doors. It was created because it is believed the NVQ Level 2 doesn’t fulfil that potential or demonstrate the required knowledge as set by the BS EN16005. Which is why the ADIA created an alternative and improved the BS EN16005 to include various assessments and skill demonstrations.

The ADIA know there are members who disagree with the NVQ/ NOS. It is understood there are issues regarding outdated content which needs to be improved. The association are asking for your support for the ADIA CSCS card scheme and show that the NVQ is currently not relevant to the industry of today.

If you are unable to attend this meeting then please go to the CITB website and use the following link to have your say – www.citb.co.uk

Please email the ADIA to let them know if you are attending this meeting so they can give numbers to the organiser at CITB.

It is really important that you do have your say in the future of the automatic door industry.

The NVQ Titles are: Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Specialist Installation / Repair Occupations Door and Shutters  QUA800 / QUA800
