Centor® expands its range of Luxury Door Screening Systems with the launch of the S4

Centor is expanding its range of luxury screening and shade systems with the launch of its most advanced solution to date, the S4. This development enables more homes than ever to benefit from concealed shades and insect screens as the S4 can be fitted to all types of doors including bifolds, sliders, French doors and even cornerless configurations.

It is the UK’s only retractable screening product that can be fitted to openings as wide as 8.9m and as high as 3.2m.

Sales and Operations Manager of Centor Europe, Mike Sullivan says:
“When specifying large glass doors to maximise beautiful views or to bring fresh air and light into homes, the need for screening them is often overlooked. Once homeowners realise they need to control privacy, sunlight and insects, they often find that traditional window dressings can block their view or compromise the internal aesthetics of the home.
“This is where the S4 differs in that its insect screens and shades retract completely into the doorframe when not in use, thus removing any visual distractions to the view outside and affording the homeowners the smart and stylish aesthetic that they and their architect envisaged.
“By retracting fully, the screens and shades are also protected from dust and damage – especially important for a seasonally used product.” suggests Mike.

The screens and shades enable homeowners to enjoy more comfortable living by controlling insects, sunlight and privacy. When drawn, the fabrics are fully retained within the frame on all four sides, giving total insect protection, shade or darkness. Tabs at the top and bottom ensure the fabrics remain securely in place even in windy conditions.

The S4’s insect screens and shades glide easily and smoothly across the whole door opening with the lightest of touch and remain in the chosen position thanks to Centor’s unique load balancing technology, which prevents them from springing back.

S4 insect screens and shades can be specified in one of four configurations:

  • Single: a single screen or shade that extends from one side of the frame and covers the full width of the opening.
  • Combination: a combination of two fabric types, with one housed in each side of the frame, such as a screen from the left and a shade from the right.
  • Double: two screens or shades (in the same fabric option), which meet at any point along the opening.
  • Cornerless: two screens or shades (in the same fabric option) meet at a 90 degree angle opening. This option allows for no corner posts to interrupt your view.

Each S4 system is custom-built and constructed with a sturdy aluminium frame, durable stainless steel mechanisms and high performance insect screen and shade fabrics. Frame finishes can be selected from a wide range of custom colours to match doors and windows.

Three insect screen meshes are available including a new air weave that improves airflow and visibility by 30%* The luxury shades can be specified in either a light filtering or blackout fabric in a choice of patterns and colours.

The S4 can be easily installed to the inside or outside of new or existing folding, sliding, cornerless or French doors of any brand or composition.

Centor’s S4 is the latest addition to its stand-alone screening systems. The range also includes the S2 Insect Screen, which is perfect to retrofit to smaller openings. With all of its screening solutions, Centor aims to offer homeowners more comfortable living and the best possible functionality without compromising aesthetics.

The S4 can be ordered from Spring 2019, in time to appreciate its benefits this summer. The new system can be seen at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show (March 28-31, NEC Birmingham, stand G191) and Grand Designs Live (May 4-11, Excel London, stand B260).
