Shortlist Revealed for ADSA Sponsored Award

The shortlist for the category sponsored by the Automatic Door Suppliers Association in the AI Specification Awards 2022 has been revealed.

The Product Design and Innovation Electronic Award (Electronic) attracted a stellar number of entries highlighting products and services that combine traditional architectural ironmongery and electronic/technological solutions.

It is the first year that electronic solutions have been given their own category – reflecting innovation within the industry and the demand for smart systems that can be used remotely or incorporated into wider building management.

The shortlist includes:
  • DC300G-HF – Electro-mechanical Hold-Open Free Swing Door Control - Manufacturer: ASSA ABLOY
  • KitLock KL1100 locker lock - Manufacturer: Codelocks
  • Neo Cylinder - Manufacturer: Salto Systems
  • Virtual Engineer - Manufacturer: Strand Technologies

A video presentation on the shortlisted entries can be seen here: www.youtube.com .

The winners of the 40th biennial awards will be announced at a gala lunch, in London on 5 May. Organised by The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) in conjunction with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), they are staged to identify and reward excellence in the specification of architectural ironmongery in the construction industry.

Said ADSA Managing Director Ken Price:
“We are delighted to sponsor this new award. As an association representing the automatic door industry, we regularly see examples of great innovation that use electronic solutions to meet new requirements and help solve problems. This award is a celebration of the cutting-edge technology and its application.”

The Automatic Door Association (ADSA) was formed in 1985 to establish quality and safety standards for the automatic door industry. It developed the first industry code of practice which covered safety aspects of automatic doors for pedestrian use. This subsequently formed the basis of BS 7036: 1988, a code of practice for the provision and installation of safety devices for automatic, power-operated pedestrian door systems.

Its membership includes manufacturers, suppliers, installers and service providers of automatic doors – from global companies to sole traders. ADSA member organisations supply more than 75% of the UK market.
