Garador employee sets the pace

Six months after her heart stopped beating Garador sales advisor Kim Kerswell has been busy baking cakes.

Kim, 46, was rushed from Garador’s  garage door factory in Yeovil to hospital last June where they found her heart had paused for 24 seconds.

After having a pacemaker successfully fitted, Kim recovered and is now back at work, but she wanted to give something back for all the care she received.

So she joined up with the British Heart Foundation and their Wear It Beat It campaign to hold a major fund raising day at work at Garador. Co-workers at Garador all turned up in red to reflect the heart/love theme of the day and people baked a range of Valentine and heart shaped cakes along with holding a raffle.

She collected £253 which has all gone to the charity.
“The money is much needed by the British Heart Foundation,” said Kim. “Every day over 500 people go to hospital suffering a heart attack and the support and information the BHF provides is invaluable.
“For instance, after my heart problems, we received full information from the BHF and now Garador have installed the company’s own defibrillator machine, such a good idea for all companies.”
