IronmongeryDirect Awarded Outstanding Achievement in Customer Satisfaction

Leading specialist ironmongery supplier, IronmongeryDirect has been presented with the Outstanding Achievement in Customer Satisfaction 2020 Award, by independent research company, In-House Research.

Based exclusively on customer feedback, the awards recognise companies that deliver world class customer service.

The award follows a telephone survey which found that over 70% of customers would recommend IronmongeryDirect.

The Outstanding Achievement Award is accredited to a business that receives over 50 survey responses and achieves a Net Promotor Score (NPS) of 65 or above – a score at this level represents a customer-centric culture throughout a business, and has been designed to recognise the very best. IronmongeryDirect, Essex based ironmongery supplier, has been awarded an NPS of 70.8.

Marco Verdonkschot, managing director at IronmongeryDirect says,
“We pride ourselves on providing our customers with an exemplary service – from a wide range of delivery options, including free next day delivery, click and collect as well as hassle-free returns and over 18,000 products in stock, all supported with a dedicated, expert customer service team who operate seven days a week.

“We also now offer same day delivery to customers within SS, CM, or RM postcodes for orders placed before 12pm, after recognising the large proportion of our customer base was within a 30 mile radius of our warehouse.

“To receive this award from independent customer feedback is testament to the pride all of our staff take in placing the customer at the forefront, and is a wonderful achievement. I’m very proud of our customer service and delivery teams who made this happen.”

For more information on IronmongeryDirect and to explore its huge range of 18,000, please visit www.ironmongerydirect.co.uk.

HorizAL Builds on Success and Looks Forward to a Prosperous 2021

The partnership between Alucorb Ltd and HorizAL continues to grow and strengthen, with gate companies throughout the UK requesting to join the unique “Portalier” installation network. More information is available at www.horizal.co.uk/portaliers/.

HorizAL is a French-based manufacturer of high-quality aluminium gates and has partnered with Alucorb to introduce its products and the pioneering “Portalier” concept to the UK. The venture is managed by Darren Weatherill, Operations Director at Alucorb Ltd.

Since its inception in this country just a few years ago, both demand and turnover has soared – and shows no sign of abating.

This is despite a tough year for Stockport-based Alucorb. 2020 started with a fire at premises on their Industrial Estate, which resulted in a complete shutdown of the headquarters. Portakabins were quickly situated outside the smoke-damaged offices and, thanks to the dedication of staff, business as usual was resumed.

Then, of course, came COVID-19, which – as Darren Weatherill explains – presented serious challenges:
“When COVID hit we had no choice but to furlough the majority of our employees and just keep a skeleton staff running the company. It was tough, particularly as trade has been absolutely booming.
“Also, the Homebuilding & Renovating Exhibition at the NEC in March was cancelled, which had been our opportunity to showcase a vast range of new designs and collections.”
“So, it’s been a challenging time, but we have got through it and are now operating at full capacity again, having recently moved back into our fantastic newly re-furbished headquarters, including our modern state of the art showroom showcasing our complete product portfolio.
“Throughout it all, we have continued to work very closely in very restricted conditions with HorizAL in France, whilst respecting rules in both countries, and have been able to develop and launch new and exciting product ranges and expand the “Portalier” concept here in the UK.”

In France, “Portaliers” are gate installation experts who are trained, approved/regulated by HorizAL and licensed to install the product in their own designated, and exclusive geographical area. Each regional UK “Portalier” is trained by Alucorb in all sales and technical aspects of HorizAL swinging, sliding or cantilevered aluminium gates, as well as all other associated products - such as matching pedestrian gates and fencing.

There is strong marketing support from Alucorb. Every “Portalier” gets their own homepage on the horizal.co.uk website, featuring personalised content, full colour brochures, business cards, a price list, technical brochures, colour catalogues and demonstration cases with all swing and sliding gate profiles, handles, colours, fencing parts, glass inserts and hinge samples.

Two sample gates – normally one powder-coated and one woodgrain finish – are also provided, in padded protective bags. “Portaliers” also benefit from a new technical addition to the HorizAL operation - a 3D configurator with augmented reality, which installers can use to recreate a 3D version of any site to demonstrate to their own customers, which is a big boost to sales.

Due to the accelerated growth of the “Portalier” concept, Alucorb have brought on board a new Sales & Marketing Manager - Emma Hasson – to help develop the network even further and promote the HorizAL brand throughout the UK.
“Emma has 12 years’ experience in this sector and will be a huge asset to us,” comments Darren Weatherill.

“She has joined a highly talented and hugely motivated team and will be overseeing all sales and marketing development, working very closely with HorizAL, to increase our presence throughout the UK.”

So, despite a difficult twelve months, Darren is confident that 2021 will be a positive year:
“Looking ahead, the business is set to grow throughout 2021. We are busier than ever, and are excited about showcasing our brand and the “Portalier” network to installers and customers across the country.”
“My message for anyone thinking about becoming a “Portalier” and being a part of the only professional aluminium gate installation network in the UK? Stop thinking and pick up the phone! A chat costs you nothing, but if you leave it too late you could lose the opportunity.”
Don’t miss out – call 0161 4065910 today to discover more about becoming a “Portalier”. Or visit Alucorb’s website: www.horizal.co.uk .

Christmas Pick-up for the Animals of ZSL Whipsnade

Christmas has come early for the animals at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, which has taken delivery of two Ford Ranger Raptors.

The tiger-liveried Raptors are being put to good use across the UK’s largest zoo, tasked with feeding some of its 3,500 animals, many of which are Endangered or Extinct in the wild.

Duties for the Raptors include helping keepers transport food, bedding and feeding or activity toys around across the 600-acre nature haven.

The other vehicle is currently spreading Christmas joy as a stand-in for Santa’s sleigh, entertaining visitors who returned on 2nd December after a second enforced closure due to COVID-19. More than one million people visit Whipsnade and London Zoo combined each year.

Ford is also loaning ZSL London Zoo a congestion charge and low emission zone-exempt Transit Custom plug-in Hybrid in the new year to assist with inner-city logistics and transporting goods to and from each site.

Owen Craft, ZSL Whipsnade Zoo Chief Operating Officer, said:
“As an international conservation charity this year has been challenging for us.
“We have keenly felt the pressures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we and our sister site ZSL London Zoo, were forced to close for a total of 16 weeks each, putting us under huge financial strain and impacting our global conservation efforts.
“We are grateful to Ford for this loan, which is helping our keepers to care for some of the worlds most endangered animals.”
The Ranger Raptor’s Quickclear windscreen will prove useful for the early morning starts, while the heated seats will help to keep keepers warm during winter.

Mike Laird, Ranger Product Manager, Ford of Europe, said:
“The Ranger Raptor is a workhorse, but on this occasion it’s working alongside the horses. These visually striking pick-up trucks will become as much of a visitor attraction as the animals themselves, not least because Ranger Raptors stay still for photos!”
Raptor is built to withstand high-impact, off-road events, thanks to its unique, super-strong reinforced chassis frame, which uses high-strength, low-alloy steels to endure the high-performance off-road driving.

FOX shock absorbers with Position Sensitive Damping provide higher damping forces for unparalleled off-road capability. Its 1,560 by 1,575mm load tray has been designed with the weekend explorer in mind, able to carry dirt bikes or jet-skis, but will happily accommodate hay bales, too.

ZSL’s keepers will also be able to choose from six Terrain Management System modes to tackle a wide range of terrain and driving scenarios, including:

  • Normal mode – emphasising comfort, fuel economy and driveability
  • Sport mode – more responsive for spirited on-road driving
  • Grass/Gravel/Snow mode – designed to inspire safe and confident driving on off-road slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Mud/Sand mode – tuning vehicle responses for optimum traction and momentum in deep, deformable surfaces like loose sand and mud
  • Rock mode –  specifically for low-speed rocky terrain where smooth controllability is key
  • Baja mode – tuning responses for high-speed off-road performance
