HorizAL Builds on Success and Looks Forward to a Prosperous 2021

The partnership between Alucorb Ltd and HorizAL continues to grow and strengthen, with gate companies throughout the UK requesting to join the unique “Portalier” installation network. More information is available at www.horizal.co.uk/portaliers/.

HorizAL is a French-based manufacturer of high-quality aluminium gates and has partnered with Alucorb to introduce its products and the pioneering “Portalier” concept to the UK. The venture is managed by Darren Weatherill, Operations Director at Alucorb Ltd.

Since its inception in this country just a few years ago, both demand and turnover has soared – and shows no sign of abating.

This is despite a tough year for Stockport-based Alucorb. 2020 started with a fire at premises on their Industrial Estate, which resulted in a complete shutdown of the headquarters. Portakabins were quickly situated outside the smoke-damaged offices and, thanks to the dedication of staff, business as usual was resumed.

Then, of course, came COVID-19, which – as Darren Weatherill explains – presented serious challenges:
“When COVID hit we had no choice but to furlough the majority of our employees and just keep a skeleton staff running the company. It was tough, particularly as trade has been absolutely booming.
“Also, the Homebuilding & Renovating Exhibition at the NEC in March was cancelled, which had been our opportunity to showcase a vast range of new designs and collections.”
“So, it’s been a challenging time, but we have got through it and are now operating at full capacity again, having recently moved back into our fantastic newly re-furbished headquarters, including our modern state of the art showroom showcasing our complete product portfolio.
“Throughout it all, we have continued to work very closely in very restricted conditions with HorizAL in France, whilst respecting rules in both countries, and have been able to develop and launch new and exciting product ranges and expand the “Portalier” concept here in the UK.”

In France, “Portaliers” are gate installation experts who are trained, approved/regulated by HorizAL and licensed to install the product in their own designated, and exclusive geographical area. Each regional UK “Portalier” is trained by Alucorb in all sales and technical aspects of HorizAL swinging, sliding or cantilevered aluminium gates, as well as all other associated products - such as matching pedestrian gates and fencing.

There is strong marketing support from Alucorb. Every “Portalier” gets their own homepage on the horizal.co.uk website, featuring personalised content, full colour brochures, business cards, a price list, technical brochures, colour catalogues and demonstration cases with all swing and sliding gate profiles, handles, colours, fencing parts, glass inserts and hinge samples.

Two sample gates – normally one powder-coated and one woodgrain finish – are also provided, in padded protective bags. “Portaliers” also benefit from a new technical addition to the HorizAL operation - a 3D configurator with augmented reality, which installers can use to recreate a 3D version of any site to demonstrate to their own customers, which is a big boost to sales.

Due to the accelerated growth of the “Portalier” concept, Alucorb have brought on board a new Sales & Marketing Manager - Emma Hasson – to help develop the network even further and promote the HorizAL brand throughout the UK.
“Emma has 12 years’ experience in this sector and will be a huge asset to us,” comments Darren Weatherill.

“She has joined a highly talented and hugely motivated team and will be overseeing all sales and marketing development, working very closely with HorizAL, to increase our presence throughout the UK.”

So, despite a difficult twelve months, Darren is confident that 2021 will be a positive year:
“Looking ahead, the business is set to grow throughout 2021. We are busier than ever, and are excited about showcasing our brand and the “Portalier” network to installers and customers across the country.”
“My message for anyone thinking about becoming a “Portalier” and being a part of the only professional aluminium gate installation network in the UK? Stop thinking and pick up the phone! A chat costs you nothing, but if you leave it too late you could lose the opportunity.”
