Hörmann continues to support the Alzheimer’s Society with Stonehenge Trekking challenge

UK’s leading door manufacturer, Hörmann, have raised more than £38,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society, since partnering with them in January 2015. Keen to continue to raise money and awareness for the cause, Hörmann staff members embarked on the Stonehenge Trek.

The 26-mile course is recognised as one of the UK’s toughest, albeit most picturesque marathon routes, which ran between Salisbury and Old Sarum, and passing the historic Stonehenge landmark. Those who took part in the full marathon completed the Trek in just over 9 hours, whilst the staff who opted to do the 13-mile option finished within 4-5 hours.

Hörmann’s UK Managing Director, David Newcombe, was among those who successfully completed the full marathon course:
“This was a real endurance test but the whole Hörmann team really pulled together to support one another to succeed,” he said. “Thanks to support from our trade partners and suppliers, we are aiming to raise over £3000 from the trek alone, meaning that we will have raised over £40,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society since the beginning of last year.”
The money will help to fund Alzheimer’s research, as well as providing support for those living with Dementia.

Ray Nash from the Alzheimer’s Society said:
“We rely heavily on the kind and generous support of companies and their employees such as Hörmann. We have had a great partnership which has seen not only an incredible amount of fundraising but also important awareness raising of our work and the issues around dementia and how it affects people. I would like to thank the company and all its employees who have supported this fantastic partnership. The support given to us by Hörmann will help us continue our fight against dementia and provide support to those living with dementia and their carers.”

Hörmann employees take part in several sporting events each year to raise money for a range of charities and good causes. In addition to the Stonehenge Trek, previous challenges include the Great North Run, Farmageddon and the Italian Job cycle event.

Hörmann have until the 14th October to reach their target total. If you would like to donate to the Alzheimer’s Society, please visit the Hörmann Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/H-rmann-UK1
