Laidlaw has signalled its commitment to investing in future talent by launching its own graduate scheme.
The leading architectural ironmongery, balustrades and security systems business has appointed its first three graduates into the scheme and they will now undergo intensive training to become key account managers.
Mathew Browne, aged 24, graduated from Southampton Solent University with a degree in Business Management, while 21-year-old Ellie Peters has joined Laidlaw after completing a degree in Childhood Studies at Bangor University. Daniel Wilkinson, aged 23, completes the graduate trio. He attained a degree in product/industrial design from the University of Teesside.
The three have started a six-month induction and training programme, during which time they will undergo rigorous customer-focused sales training and work in all areas across the business.
When they successfully complete the induction phase and complete the GAI (Guild of Architectural Ironmongery) Foundation Programme, they will be placed into key account manager roles within the business.
They will then go on to study for a three-year GAI diploma, a respected and widely recognised industry qualification that provides learners with a broad knowledge and understanding of ironmongery.

“This new generation of key account managers will learn from some of the best in the industry and as they learn the ropes, they will take an integrated approach, providing customers with product solutions from across the full range of ironmongery, balustrading and security systems.
“It’s an exciting development for the company and we will be providing as much support as they need to progress within the company.”
The graduate training programme is the latest in Laidlaw’s commitment to supporting professionals in their career. It is also an approved member of the RIBA CPD Providers Network and offers a series of four CPDs for Architects and construction professionals, one of which is an approved core curriculum subject.
