Somfy Showcases Smart Home Innovations at CES Las Vegas

Somfy, the specialist in smart home management solutions for homes and buildings attended the CES Trade Show in Las Vegas from January 7th to 10th, where the team highlighted three of its new product innovations for 2020.

Last year the CES attracted more than 175,000 attendees, with over 4,500 companies exhibiting from across the consumer technology industry.

Somfy, which has more than 50 years’ experience in improving living environments, has more recently become a pioneer in the move to digitise homes and buildings. Its products automate a range of home functions, including security, lighting and awnings, and integrate with hardware from other manufacturers.

The two products highlighted at CES this year were:

Somfy Door Keeper, the 1st motorised connected lock with integrated closure and intrusion detector.

The Somfy Door Keeper is a highly sophisticated connected lock, which not only keeps doors highly secured but also monitors them, triggering alerts when vibrations indicate an attempt to break in. The device then sounds an alarm to ward off intruders, and also alerts the homeowner.

Somfy Door Keeper incorporates Somfy's patented IntelliTAGTM technology, which is used in Somfy alarm systems. Using the Somfy Keys app, users can check whether a door is open or closed at any time and can lock it remotely if needed.

There is an automatic alert if a door is not closed properly or left open, and access codes can be set for residents and trusted parties like employees or holidaymakers renting out the property.

For all homes, these new needs and uses mainly involve the front door, which is the most sensitive place when it comes to security with Door Keeper it becomes an active part of home security.

The Somfy Door Keeper will be available in the second quarter of 2020 in Europe.

TaHoma switch

10 years after the launch of TaHoma, the heart of the Smart home, Somfy is innovating with TaHoma switch, the first smart control to centralise and connect people’s homes.

It enables users to centrally control more than 300 equipment ranges including Somfy’s own-brand, other home brands as well as voice assistants Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, managing elements from lighting and heating to security camera and alarm systems and opening and closing windows and doors.

The TaHoma switch control can be placed anywhere in the home with a power socket thanks to its Wi-Fi connection.

Meanwhile, through the TaHoma app, users can customise two of the switch’s three control buttons to suit their daily routines – for example, by setting one to ‘leaving home’ and the other to ‘arriving home’ and customising Smart Home settings accordingly.

The Somfy TaHoma switch will be available from autumn 2020 in Europe, through all distribution channels (installers, specialised stores, e-shops).

Speaking on Somfy’s attendance at CES, Steven Montgomery, Managing Director of Somfy UK & Ireland, said:
“CES is always one of the most exciting events in our calendar and we are very excited to have three innovative devices to discuss at this year’s show.
“Smart Home technology is becoming increasingly innovative and user-friendly, as well as offering more opportunities for people to consolidate different systems under one set of controls, and Somfy is proud to be working at the forefront of these developments.
“The Door Keeper and TaHoma switch we are showcasing, will help people to keep their homes safer and more secure, more energy-efficient and simply make them more pleasant to live in. We hope they will capture visitors’ imaginations as much as they have ours.”
