ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, working together with Exova Warrington Certification, has been the first to affix the CE mark issued by Exova Warrington on its high performance steel and timber external doorsets.
Having met the relevant characteristics of the product standard EN 14351-1 under the new CE marking system – verified in the newly produced Declaration of Performance (DoP) documentation – customers of ASSA ABLOY Security Doors can be confident that the high performance external doorsets meet with current market directives.
The successful declaration comes as changes to the CE marking system came into effect on July 1st this year, as a result of the existing Construction Products Directive (CPD) – a legislative act under the European Union – being updated and replaced.
The replacement of the CPD with the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) means that CE Marking is no longer optional, and that it is now an offence to place a non CE-marked construction product on the market if it is covered by a harmonised standard.
ASSA ABLOY Security Doors has been preparing for the changes for more than eighteen-months, with support from Exova Warrington Certification, in order to ensure its customers are best equipped to succeed under the reforms and remain competitive.

Paul Duggan, Certification Manager at Exova Warrington Certification, said:
“While ASSA ABLOY Security Doors was obligated to have their product CE marked under the changes to market directives, the team approached this seeing it through their customer’s eyes; ensuring the process was underway in plenty of time, and ensuring that customers understood what the changes meant.”
Brian Sofley, Managing Director for ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, added:
“We’re very proud to have been ‘first past the post’, and hope that this demonstrates our commitment to keeping up with the latest industry legislation.
“The process has been long, and has taken much investment and commitment. It’s worth it now that our customers are fully equipped to continue to succeed in what is an increasingly competitive market.
“In sharing knowledge and experience with Exova Warrington Certification, the process became a little easier, and allowed us to be first to protect our customers’ interests with our knowledge and resource.”
