In this article we talk with Phillip Clark, UK Service and Parts Manager at Hörmann UK, who in conjuction with a team of service engineers, ensures end users receive excellent aftersales care and support.
How long have you worked with Hörmann?
I joined Hörmann UK in 2015, having moved over from another European manufacturer where I held a similar position.
What is your job at Hörmann?
I am the UK Service and Parts Manager at Hörmann UK and manage a team of more than 20 Service Engineers.
What training was required?
Over the years at Hörmann I have developed my product knowledge through our training forum in Steinhagen, as well as completing DHF’s two-day safety diploma.

I manage two departments at Hörmann UK, the Technical Support and Parts department and the UK Service Engineers, who ensure our end users receive excellent aftersales care and support. Each day is different from the next, so my role remains exciting. My time is usually split between the office and visiting customers to discuss their service agreements or parts and technical support plans. I have also started to discuss training requirements with installers in order to find out how Hörmann UK is able to help them with current and future projects.
What are the best and hardest parts of the job?
Working for one of the leading manufacturers of industrial doors and loading bays means there is a lot of knowledge within the wider business, which all contributes toward improving the company and its overall success. I enjoy working with the team to ensure we can drive the business forward and meet the needs of our customers.
Have you worked on any interesting projects?
I have recently been quite heavily involved in the creation of Hörmann UK’s Training Academy. It’s our purpose built centre for our trade customers and engineers where we will be running installation training courses throughout 2019 for both industrial and domestic partners. I’m excited to see this project come to life this year.
What has been your proudest moment at Hörmann?
Since I joined Hörmann UK, I have been able to witness a significant growth in our industrial division, particularly with our service offering. In this time, we have quadrupled the turnover of the department, as well as double our engineering fleet. We have worked hard to bring the Training Academy to life, which will help bring the next generation of engineers through our doors.
