Online toolkit helps joinery firms get ahead on key industry issues

A new online toolkit of sector-specific information, advice and expertise has been launched as part of a revamp of the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) website.

The toolkit gives BWF members new insights and practical help on key issues including CE Marking, EU Timber Regulations, environmental waste management, technical woodworking support, health and safety, and business support.

There is a designated section for guides and publications produced by the BWF that are available for immediate download by members and a training section providing information on courses, the WITForum CPD programme and routes to get into joinery.

The news section at www.bwf.org.uk remains to keep members up to date with the latest happenings in the joinery and woodworking industry and a new feature, the countdown clock, features on the homepage counting down to big changes in the industry. Currently the clock is counting down to the introduction of mandatory CE marking for windows and external doorsets.

The website also includes a section on why specifiers should choose wood and the benefits of timber products. Providing details on windows, fire doors, stairs, CE marked windows and doors and bamboo applications, this section also provides information on finding a reputable local supplier.

Iain McIlwee, BWF Chief Executive, said:
“Our members in the woodworking and joinery industry are busy people who may not have the time to go online searching for the information they need. Therefore we’ve made it easier and faster for them to get all the support they need, online, in one place, and from the country’s experts. The key message is that if it is useful to a joinery business, it should be there. And if it isn’t, tell us, and it will be!”
