Classic Pre-War Fords and Post-War Thoroughbreds Help Sale Reach New Heights

1967 Mercedes-Benz 250 SL ‘Pagoda

It was standing room only at H+H Classics’ popular Pavilion Gardens, Buxton venue on Friday, when the team of auctioneers, led by managing director Simon Hope, hammered away 70 cars in the 81-lot catalogue, proving that their policy of complimentary auction catalogues really works.

Top-selling car was the wonderful 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250 SL ‘Pagoda’, estimated at £38,000 – 42,000, that left its upper guide price in tatters to eventually sell for £55,160. Also doing well was the 1998 BMW M Coupé that, after some spirited bidding, achieved £26,320.

1928 Ford Model A Roadster
The pre-War Fords were led home by the 1928 Model A Roadster that went for £17,360, just one of an impressive line-up of Model As and Ts that flanked the historic Pavilion Gardens venue, all of which found new owners.

H&H’s next auction will be at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford on 15 April and will feature another broad selection of high quality classic cars and motorcycles suitable for all tastes and pockets.
