Record-breaking results for The Homebuilding & Renovating Show in 2017

The Homebuilding & Renovating Show experienced its busiest year ever by delivering a total of over 102,000 visitors in 2017, marking a nine per cent year on year increase for the exhibitions. The results were announced following its final successful event, which took place at The Bath & West Showground over the weekend (18-19 November).

The shows’ record attendance reflects the findings of the Self & Custom Build Market Report, commissioned and generated by Homebuilding & Renovating, which revealed that the self and custom build industry is growing at a rate of 6.25 per cent year on year, averaging an industry value of £6 billion in three years. At its current pace, the sector is estimated to reach 16,500 housing completions by 2020, which reinforces the show’s strategic role in delivering advice and resources for people keen on building their own home.

Nick Noble, commercial & events director at Future PLC, comments,
“This growth in visitor figures reinforces two key considerations. The first is the undiminished appetite from consumers who see their homes as their number one asset and so want them to reflect the very latest technologies and innovations available to the self-build and renovation sector. The second is that these events have a premium, highly targeted exhibitor database, offering access to products and services that are not available anywhere else.
For people wishing to spend over £100K on materials alone this is critical, as The Homebuilding & Renovating Show provides the range and expertise required all under one roof to enable consumers to make informed buying decisions. Yet again we have attracted a strong, committed audience which positions The Homebuilding & Renovating Show as the clear market leader in its space“.

The biggest event of its type in the UK, The Homebuilding & Renovating Show presented a portfolio of seven shows this year, covering key venues including Birmingham, London, Harrogate, Glasgow, Surrey, Somerset, Edinburgh, and their nearby affluent areas. In addition to these locations, the event organisers are planning the brand’s expansion by launching another exhibition at Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre in January 2019.

In total, over 1900 exhibitors participated throughout the year, covering a wide range of interests from extensions; conversions; home DIY; planning permission; interiors; lighting; doors; windows; renewable technologies; heating systems; project insurance; energy efficiency; home insurance; building regulations and more.

Next year’s Birmingham show will be held at the NEC from 22-25 March 2018. For more details on upcoming exhibitions, visit www.homebuildingshow.co.uk
