Hörmann UK crew joins forces with Winvic for Charity Yacht Racing Challenge

Last month Tom Langley, Paul Eadie, and Paul Harrison from Hörmann UK jumped aboard a yacht for the first time as part of Winvic’s Charity Yacht Racing Challenge.

Hörmann UK donated £900 to partake in the event, which went towards Winvic’s selected charity, The Bee Hive, a Northampton-based community group that provides a post 16 vocational setting for young people with Special Educational Needs.

With over 50 suppliers taking part, the Hörmann UK team were amongst the 200 people that took part in the challenge, which aimed to celebrate the working relationships within Winvic’s supply chain while raising money for their latest project, Horti-Hub @ The Bee Hive.

Tom Langley, projects director at Hörmann UK said:
“The Charity Yacht Racing Challenge was a fantastic experience, but it was a lot harder and scarier than it looked! Unfortunately the weather wasn’t kind and we all got very wet, but that certainly didn’t dampen our spirits. When you know you’re raising money for a great cause like The Bee Hive project it really gives you the extra motivation you need when you’re flagging.”

David O’Mara, marketing manager at Hörmann, commented:
“Everyone at Hörmann UK is really proud of Tom, Paul and Paul, for taking part in Winvic’s Charity Yacht Racing Challenge. Despite having not sailed before they all did a brilliant job, and most importantly helped raise money for such an important cause. We’ve been working with Winvic for many years now, so it was great to have the opportunity to bond with the Winvic team.”

The Horti-Hub @ The Bee Hive project will offer a safe and well-structured environment that combines education, vocational-learning and work-placed learning. Details on the charity’s work are available at http://www.thebeehive-nsac.org.uk.

Hörmann takes part in several sporting events each year to raise money for a range of charities and good causes. To find out more visit, www.hormann.co.uk/news
