DHF Award Marks Andy Holz’s Outstanding Contribution to the Powered Gate Industry

An award designed to honour individual achievement in the powered gate, door and hardware industries has been given to Andy Holz.
The David Whitworth Award marks Andy’s outstanding accomplishments in raising levels of safety in the powered gate sector.
He was one of the founders of the Door & Hardware Federation Powered Gate Group in 2011 and has been its chairman since March 2012.
Under his chairmanship, the DHF PGG has grown dramatically, now numbering more than 65 members who are the leading UK and European manufacturers, suppliers, installers and maintainers of powered gates and gate automation equipment.
They are all committed to driving up levels of public safety. To that end, more than 100 installers have successfully completed the DHF PGG’s industry-leading two-day training course. This number is set to double during 2014.

David Whitworth, who presented the award to Andy, said:
“The PGG has added a new dimension to the Door & Hardware Federation. He helped pioneer the installer training scheme for the powered gate sector which is the most stringent of its type in Europe.
“Training will help us eradicate unsafe and inadequate installation and maintenance practices. We will be building on that experience to develop safety training schemes in other industry sectors. Our federation members have benefited greatly from his enthusiasm and commitment.”

At a recent DHF executive committee, Andy was presented with a David Whitworth Award certificate, Aspinal leather writing pad and a magnum of champagne. On a personal note at the meeting, it was revealed that Andy’s four life passions were his old motor bike, his dogs, powered gates and his wife Yvonne. Andy declined to put those in order of merit.
