Marco Takes On Direct Responsibility

Marco Verdonkschot has been appointed Managing Director of Manutan’s Traders Division, which incorporates IronmongeryDirect and ElectricalDirect.

The move also sees him joining the Manutan Group Board. The appointment follows current Managing Director, Wayne Lysaght-Mason’s move to a European role on the Manutan group board, where he will be responsible for driving growth across the region.

Marco Verdonkschot has a wealth of experience in multi-channel operations, having held global senior management positions with General Electric, SC Johnson and Diversey where he has built his reputation of growing businesses through building unique customer and supplier relationships.

From a role as Head of Business Transformation & Operations, Online for Staples Inc., Marco also brings a specific expertise in online retailing.

On his new challenge, Marco commented:
“I am very excited to be joining such a dynamic business.  In his 12 year tenure, Wayne has successfully taken IronmongeryDirect from a £5m business to a £50m industry leader and launched the ElectricalDirect brand. I will now relish the opportunity to take both businesses to the next level.”

On Marco’s appointment, Wayne Lysaght-Mason said:
“I’m delighted that Marco will be taking over the helm. He not only offers a wealth of relevant experience but he is the right cultural fit for the company.  Our success has been very much down to our people and the relationships we build and I am confident that Marco will continue to instil that ethos.”

IronmongeryDirect and ElectricalDirect are part of Manutan, a leading multi-channel B2B retailer group, operating across Europe.  IronmongeryDirect has been supplying architectural ironmongery to the trade for over 50 years, with ElectricalDirect joining the group in 2017.

With a huge range of quality products in stock for next day delivery as standard, an award-winning service and low trade prices, IronmongeryDirect and Electrical Direct are proud to be masters of their trade.
