Garador Celebrates 75th Anniversary

The UK’s leading garage door manufacturer, Garador, is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. With a modern purpose-built factory based in Somerset, which utilises cutting-edge production techniques and engineering expertise, the company has come a long way since it was founded in 1948.

It’s long history of manufacturing quality garage doors stretches right back to just after the second world war when aircraft manufacturer Westland Engineers decided to diversify away from military products and start manufacturing up & over garage doors. 

Westland Engineers established Garador at a time when the domestic garage door market didn’t really exist. 

The commercial team had to convince architects, builders and local authorities that the motor car would become the most prevalent form of transport and that there would be a real demand for domestic garages, and of course garage doors.  How right they were!

Garador’s Marketing Manager, Paul Eddleston comments:

Today the company manufacturers an impressive range of over 60 garage door models, including up and over, roller, sectional and side-hinged garage doors, as well as automatic operators and accessories. 

It supplies garage doors across the length and breadth of Great Britain, from Land’s End to John O’Groats, with a distributor base that extends nationwide; many of which have worked in partnership with the firm for decades.
