Businesses can now protect their offices from Burst Pipe Damage

With a return to wintry conditions forecast for next week, and the possibility of sleet and snow in the north and icy conditions in some parts of Scotland, businesses should be taking steps to protect their premises from burst pipes.

UK businesses are now able to save up to £600 million per year, which was the estimated cost of repairing burst pipes in 2010 was £600mil for UK small and medium sized business, by installing an automatic stopcock from Autostopcock.co.uk.

Originally patented in 1993 the Autostopcock is an electric switch connected to a valve which in turn isolates the mains water for the dwelling at the flick of a switch (as easy as turning a plug on or off).

Coupled with up to date technology the switch is intelligent and monitors temperature and water flow to protect a home from danger 24 hours a day – automatically terminating the mains water supply in the event of a flood risk and therefore reducing any flood damage.

Matthew Harding, Director of Autostopcock, said today “We are pleased to have re-introduced this product to market as many businesses would find a flood catastrophic and financially unbearable. In fact many businesses may find that their insurance policies don’t cover burst pipe floods in certain circumstances”

Mr R of Kent who had his original electric stopcock fitted in 2007 said “I have enjoyed the comfort of being able to switch my water off easily with my electric stopcock and met Mr Harding two weeks ago to have my new Autostopcock unit which has given me peace of mind during these cold snaps”

The Autostopcock can be purchased online at www.autostopcock.co.uk and only takes an hour to install. The device and be fitted by a keen DIY enthusiast however homeowners can use one of Autostopcocks’ authorised installers or use their own plumber.
