DHF’s Benchmark Gate Safety Training Course now Open to All Installers

The acclaimed Door & Hardware Federation Powered Gate safety diploma training course is now available to all gate installers wanting to boost their safe installation skills.

The DHF Powered Gate Group, which represents the UK’s leading manufacturers, suppliers, installers and maintainers of powered automatic gates and gate automation equipment, set up the diploma course last September. It is a key part of its mission to educate and promote the safe and responsible design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of automatic gates in the UK.

Since its inception, more than 100 installers employed by DHF members have successfully completed the intensive two-day course and have been awarded their diplomas. The course, which has set a new benchmark in safety training, comprises a number of training modules. These cover all aspects of gate safety from initial risk assessment through to force testing.
“The DHF Powered Gate Group was set up with the encouragement of the Health & Safety Executive on behalf of the UK gate automation industry following the tragic deaths of two young children in accidents involving automated gates,” said DHF general manager and secretary Michael Skelding.

“The DHF is anxious to improve levels of safety across the powered gate sector, which is why it’s now opened up its diploma training course to all installers and those responsible for gate safety assessment inspection.

“The course has become recognised as the most comprehensive of its type in Europe. It sets extremely high standards in gate safety. There’s been a strong demand for places on the courses from non members. Now that the majority of DHF Powered Gate Group members have successfully put installers through the course, we are opening it up to all those installers in the industry wanting to extend their knowledge of safety.

“By combining resources from several of the industry’s leading experts, the training course is now the most comprehensive, technical and relevant available to today’s safety aware installers.”

The next diploma training courses will be held on:
  • May 14 and 15 at DHF member company CAME UK in Hemel Hempstead
  • May 20 and 21 at the Hunting Tower Hotel Perth
  • June 17 and 18 at DHF member FAAC (UK) Ltd, Basingstoke
  • July 22 and 23 at DHF member NICE UK, Nottingham.

The cost per delegate of the two-day course is £495 plus VAT. This cost is reduced to £345 if the delegate’s employer subsequently becomes a DHF member.

For more information on the diploma scheme, and to book places, visit www.dhfonline.org.uk or call the DHF on 01827 52337.
