Hörmann UK continues partnership with Panattoni as part of Derby370 development

As the world’s largest privately owned industrial developer and the UK’s largest speculative developer, Panattoni is committed to providing its customers with quality solutions on which their business can depend.

As part of its aim to achieve a ‘best in class’ supply chain, Hörmann UK is its supplier of choice for bespoke loading bay solutions.

With each site completely unique to the next, Panattoni can ensure the warehouses are specifically designed to facilitate the individual needs of each client and the surrounding region.

One of its latest developments, Derby370, boasts over 370,990 sq. ft of warehousing space, located close to the city centre to provide arterial transport routes to the M1, A50, and A38.

As part of the site’s construction, Hörmann UK has supplied a diverse portfolio of solutions including standard loading bays, double deck loading bays, telescopic lip dock levellers, dock shelters, level access doors and fire exit doors.

These market-leading products provide the highest standards in efficiency, security and safety, supporting Panattoni in streamlining its client’s operations.

With the continued increase in logistics businesses incorporating a range of vehicle types into its fleet in order to sufficiently meet demand, Panattoni selected eight of Hörmann UK’s double deck dock shelters for the construction of Derby370.

These enable clients to transport goods in and out of the warehouse using larger double deck trucks, as well as standard sized heavy goods vehicles for optimum operational efficiency.

For enhanced thermal performance, the double deck docks are fitted with secondary electric roller blind top flaps to provide an efficient seal on smaller vehicles when using the bay.

24 of Hörmann UK’s standard loading bays have also been installed across the site with electrical operation for enhanced safety and security. The loading bays have insulated sectional panels with double glazed vision panels, providing an impressive U-value of 0.5/Wm².K.

This is supported by a composite construction that comprises of galvanized sheet steel, with a stucco textured profile for a durable and resilient finish to withstand the external elements.

The standard and double deck loading bays have been fitted with Hörmann UK’s innovative hydraulic dock levellers, featuring a 1metre telescopic lip to create an optimal loading platform that provides precise bridging for a range of vehicle types.

Rubber draught seals to the edges of the levellers also support the minimisation of heat loss, aiding the site in achieving an EPC rating of A and BREEAM ‘Very Good’.

The 32 loading bays are also equipped with Hörmann UK’s LED external arrow traffic lights to signal to drivers when they can safely pull off from the bay, along with its LED trailer lights. These light up the back of trailers when being loaded or unloaded, providing outstanding levels of safety for all individuals.

Fergie Taylor, Head of Development Delivery at Panattoni, said:
“Panattoni projects are characterised by innovation, flexibility, speed and convenience. Not for the sake of simply getting the job done, but to provide our customers with real cost, service and performance advantages.
“Derby370 is reflective of this commitment, providing clients with a state-of-the-art warehouse that has been constructed to streamline supply chain operations from all aspects.
“As a long term partner of Hörmann UK we knew we could rely on its wide portfolio of loading bay solutions to ensure we provide our clients with the highest standard in warehouse operations to successfully meet the ever-changing demands they face within the logistics sector.”

Three of Hörmann UK’s Level Access Doors have also been installed at the site, offering a size of 4metres wide by 4.8metres high. The composite construction comprising of galvanised sheet steel features insulated sectional panels with stucco textured profiles for a U-Value of 0.5/Wm².K.

The doors are electrically operated, with an anti lift device and an interlocked heavy duty shoot bolt to secure the door internally for first class security.

Safety edges are fitted to the bottom of the door to stop the door if it meets an obstruction while closing, while the edge also forms a weatherproof seal in the closed position for enhanced thermal efficiency. Derby370 also features 19 of Hörmann UK’s fire exit doors for comprehensive fire escape throughout the warehouse.

Tom Langley, Projects Director at Hörmann UK, said:
“We are extremely proud to be a longstanding partner of one of the most high profile private developers in the world.
“Panattoni’s commitment to constructing and delivering warehouses of the future that are designed to meet each client’s individual needs is reflective of our own dedication at Hörmann to manufacture first class and industry leading solutions for the logistics industry.”

The Derby370 site also houses three storey offices, a two storey hub office and a gatehouse, with planning permission and infrastructure in place for a vehicle maintenance unit, vehicle wash and fuel station.

For further information on Hörmann UK’s industrial doors and loading bays, call 01530 516868 or visit: www.hormann.co.uk.

Sharpen up your security with Mul-T-Lock’s CLIQ® technology

Where you’re a large multi-national retailer or a smaller high-street store, security will be near the top of your list of priorities. In fact, the safety of visitors and staff, coupled with the security of goods, can be vital to any retailer’s success and profitability.

CLIQ® technology from leading security provider Mul-T-Lock offers a smart security solution for all types of retail applications, whether it be a chain of supermarkets or a standalone local shop.

eCLIQ® for large retailers

Mul-T-Lock’s eCLIQ® access control system allows large retailers to manage access permissions remotely, from one central location, anywhere in the world. This includes the ability to schedule individual access permissions for each key, as well as to provide time-limited access.

This is ideal for retailers with complex access and security requirements such as 24-hour supermarkets, as it allows tailored access for members of staff who may be coming and going at various times of the day, and also enables administrators to grant time-limited access to contractors and delivery drivers.

If a key is lost or a member of staff leaves, access can also be revoked, which is particularly useful for retailers that suffer from a high staff turnover or employ seasonal staff for busier times of the year. This not only offers enhanced security but also significantly reduces whole life costing, as it removes the need to replace physical locks; and keys can be validated daily, weekly or monthly to keep them continuously secure.

The system’s audit trail capabilities also allow business owners to access comprehensive data illustrating who accesses which lock and when; ideal for those who are concerned about staff shrinkage or those who want to determine who should have access to certain assets.

Working on a modular system, eCLIQ® locks are quick and easy to install with no cabling required. Not only is maintenance not required for up to 200,000 cycles, but key batteries are also fast and easy to replace once every 30,000 operations, at a nominal cost to the business, with no need for specialist tools.

CLIQ Go for small to medium sized retailers

Mul-T-Lock’s CLIQ® Go access control system allows small to medium sized retailers to remotely manage security ‘on the go’. It boasts all the benefits of eCLIQ® technology, but can be managed by a designated administrator via the CLIQ® Go app.

This includes the ability to schedule individual access permissions for each key, provide time-limited access, and revoke access to particular keys as and when needed – again, making it particularly useful for retailers that often suffer from a high staff turnover.

Mul-T-Lock’s CLIQ® Go is the ideal solution for a variety of applications, such as small to medium independent shops with a handful of staff who all need access at varying times, or that require individual permissions for access to storage rooms, for example.

The high security eCLIQ® locks are easy to configure, are suitable for all door types and can be easily fitted by a local locksmith. With no cabling, the cylinders can be retrofit to existing doors without causing any mess or disruption.

The available cylinders are also suitable for a number of different applications, from cabinets housing high value items to all-weather padlocks for exterior gates. In fact, just one key can access doors, cupboards, elevators, machines and many other locking devices.

To learn more about CLIQ® technology and Mul-T-Lock’s expertise working alongside retailers, please call 01902 364200, email internalsales@mul-t-lock.co.uk or visit www.mul-t-lock.co.uk.

Jewers Doors Secures Major Airbus Contract

Jewers Doors - a world-leader in the design, manufacture, installation and repair of aircraft hangar doors – secured a major new contract with Airbus.

The aircraft manufacturer has asked Jewers to design four sets of special contour hangar doors to suit its current Airbus Beluga ST aircraft and new Beluga XL aircraft.

The new doors comprise one pair of main contour doors for the XL and a secondary pair of internal mask doors to suit the ST aircraft. Only the nose section of the aircraft enters the hangar - the rest of the aircraft remains outside. The soft contours of each pair of doors are finished with natural rubber seals to reduce the entry of air, dust and water.

The Airbus Beluga Transporter aircraft was developed using the Airbus A300-600. Its cargo is carried in the bulbous freight compartment accessed via the massive hinged nose door (hence the name, given its similarity in shape to a Beluga whale).

These huge cargo planes have, over the years, carried sections of the international Space Station, large and delicate artworks, industrial machinery and even complete helicopters.

This order taps into a core service of Jewers Doors, which for many years has been supplying contour doors that are specially shaped to encompass the fuselage of an aircraft in order to provide an environmental seal. The firm’s range of Esavian and Phoenix doors have been installed in the UK and throughout the world - including Europe, the Middle East, the Far East, North and South America - for more than 30 years.

These doors allow part of an aircraft (e.g. the nose or tail) to be within the controlled environment of a hangar for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations. With part (often the major part) of an aircraft remaining outside the hangar, space within the hangar is available for other aircraft to be worked on – thus increasing productivity.

All Jewers hangar doors have multiple safety features available. However, the Beluga doors were enhanced to ensure rapid and failsafe operation.

‘Time of flight’ E-Stop sensors, infra-red distance measuring lasers, safety PLC accessed by HMI touch screens and coded magnetic safety interlocks are used to make sure this is possible. Equally importantly, there is a quick and simple means of emergency operation in case of electrical power outage or failure.

Jonathan Jewers, Director at Jewers Doors said:
“We are delighted to have secured this deal with Airbus.”
“It adds to the strength we have in this very specialist sector, having already installed for A320, B737, C17, A400M and Beluga ST/XL aircraft in the UK, France, Germany and Bulgaria.
“And we anticipate further orders from around the world very soon.”

Assa Abloy Door Group Masters the Art of Security for National Gallery of Ireland

National Gallery of Ireland, Merrion Square Entrance
© National Gallery of Ireland

Door Group, a unit of ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions UK & Ireland, has supplied the National Gallery of Ireland with security, ballistic and fire rated doorsets, for the refurbishment of a 150-year-old listed building.

The National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin has had extensive refurbishment and modernisation of its historic wings on Merrion Square. The building also required an updated fire safety plan, from which followed the need to install new security and fire rated doorsets, complete with locking systems.

The extensive refurbishment came in at close to €30 million, in order to restore the building to its former glory and meet today’s high fire safety and security standards.

For this prestigious project, the doorsets were specified by Henegan Peng Architects and then ASSA ABLOY Door Group worked closely with Modubuild, a specialist trade contractor, alongside main contractors John Paul Construction to fulfill the specification.

Approximately 30 steel doorsets, including a mixture of LPS 1175 security rating and fire rated glass doorsets, were delivered to the Dargan and Milltown Wings in Merrion Square in order to maintain maximum security as well as adhere to the strictest fire safety regulations.

Logistically, the delivery of the doorsets presented some challenges as the National Gallery of Ireland is in Dublin’s busy city centre. Similarly, solutions had to be carefully chosen to meet the unique demands of the listed building. However, these needs were taken into consideration at an early stage to ensure the project ran smoothly.

Sean Rainbird, Director of the National Gallery of Ireland, explained:
“For the first time the gallery has an integrated system of lighting, heating and security. It’s very much state of the art; we’ve been able to specify really good technical equipment.”

James Blanchfield, Pre-Contracts Manager for Ireland and Mainland Europe at Modubuild, a Trade Partner of ASSA ABLOY Security Doors said:
“We pride ourselves on working very closely with our customers to understand their specific requirements and to provide specialist and tailored solutions.
“Doorsets for this particular project had to be fully compliant to achieve the latest standards and meet the specialist needs of each situation. Factors to consider included fire, acoustics, air tightness, high-security and pressure resistance.”

Stephen Wilkinson, Area Sales Manager for Door Group, added:
“We had to ensure that the doorsets we were supplying were of the highest security rating as per the customer’s specifications. In addition to this, doors had to be certified to meet strict fire standards and our locking solutions had to include panic hardware as well as access control systems.”

Top 10 Things You Didn’t Know about Mercedes-AMG

From its humble origins to a longstanding partnership producing special edition racing boats, the world of Mercedes-AMG is full of surprises

53 years ago, three letters came together to become synonymous with the ultimate in Driving Performance. Those letters are AMG, and the company it represents today is world-renowned for supreme automotive performance, exclusivity and highly dynamic driving pleasure.

Although its strong reputation inspires admiration and desire among many, AMG has a storied history full of surprises, lesser-known innovations and superlative, exclusive sports cars.

1. AMG stands for Aufrecht, Melcher, Großaspach, the last names of its founding fathers Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, along with Aufrecht’s birthplace of Großaspach. The names behind these three letters were the starting point for the rapid development of AMG from a two-man home- based operation to an unparalleled global performance brand.

The story started in the 1960s: the two engineers, Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, were working on the 300 SE four door sedan’s racing engine in the Development Department at Daimler- Benz, until the company discontinued all motorsports activities. Yet, Aufecht and Melcher didn’t stop working. In Aufrecht’s house in Grossaspach, they spent their spare time further honing the performance of their engine.

In 1965, Manfred Schiek, a colleague at Daimler, went to the start in the German Touring Car Championship with the 300 SE engine that Aufrecht and Melcher had developed, and won ten times. Schiek’s triumph formed the foundation of Aufrecht and Melcher’s reputation as experts for sustaining and optimizing the performance of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, leading to numerous Motorsports successes and the eventual formal partnership with Mercedes- Benz.

2. The first vehicle associated with AMG and perhaps its most noteworthy, started its life as a subdued four-door sedan! The car that eventually became renowned as the iconic “Red Pig” racing car, which helped build AMG’s credentials as a motorsports powerhouse, started its life as a Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 four-door sedan.

After Aufrecht and Melcher extensively modified the car, including increasing the engine’s displacement to 6.8 liters, the finished vehicle produced 428 horsepower and 448 lb-ft of torque, a huge improvement from the stock output of 247 hp and 369 lb-ft.

The duo also lightened the car extensively; although it was still likely the heaviest car on the grid at its racing debut in the 1971 24 hours of Spa, in which it secured a class win and second place overall result, immediately connecting the letters AMG with motorsports success.

3. The first jointly developed high-performance vehicle from AMG and Mercedes-Benz was the C 36 AMG. The C 36 AMG was also the first AMG product to be officially sold in the United States at Mercedes-Benz dealerships, starting in 1995. By 1998, the partnership between AMG and Mercedes-Benz solidified further when Daimler acquired a majority stake of AMG, setting the stage for a variety of high-performance Mercedes-Benz AMG vehicles.

4. For those that desire the ultimate in AMG performance, few models can match the exclusivity and track-optimized performance of the rare AMG Black Series models. One can think of the Black
Series as AMG’s most extroverted, most track-focused and most exclusive, limited production models.

Black Series models further enhance AMG’s already exceptional performance models by
modifying their powertrain, chassis and aerodynamics to optimize track performance and dynamic capabilities. Thus far, only five special models have worn the distinctive AMG Black Series badge.

These include the CLK 63 Black Series, the C 63 Black Series, the SL 65 Black Series, the SLS Black Series, and the SLK 55 Black Series (which was not sold in the USA). However, the exclusive Black Series family will grow soon with the addition of the forthcoming GT Black Series, set to make its debut later this year.

5. The striking SLS AMG was the first-ever car designed and developed from the ground up fully by Mercedes-AMG, followed by the AMG GT 2-door sports car in 2015, and most recently the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe in 2019.

The iconic SLS AMG featured vertically opening “gullwing” doors, inspired by the iconic original Mercedes-Benz 300 SL “gullwing” (produced from 1954 – 1957). These unique doors accommodated its lightweight alloy-tube frame, which extended higher than a standard frame, thus leading to these innovative vertically opening doors.

In the SLS AMG, these iconic gullwing doors were paired with an unusual safety feature -- two explosive capsules, capable of blowing the doors off for quick egress, in the unlikely event that the vehicle were to be flipped on its roof.

6. Since 2007, Mercedes-AMG has shared its passion for performance with the Cigarette Racing Team, resulting in a unique partnership that has produced 12 special edition, high-performance, ultra-exclusive boats.

Most recently, this partnership produced the all-new 59-foot Tirranna AMG Edition alongside a one-of-a-kind Mercedes-AMG G 63 Cigarette Edition at the 2020 Miami International Boat Show.

The striking design of the 59' Tirranna AMG Edition as well as the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Cigarette Edition is the result of close collaboration between the Cigarette Racing Team, the Mercedes-AMG design team and Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer, Daimler AG.

7. All handcrafted AMG models are built according to the “One man, one engine” philosophy, an ironclad commitment to quality, in which one master craftsman assembles each AMG handcrafted engine from start to finish. This quality construction is honored by each builder via a special plaque, signed by the individual that assembled it and placed on the handcrafted engine upon completion.

8. Today, Mercedes-AMG is headquartered in Affalterbach, Germany, a small town northeast of Stuttgart in the state of Baden-Wüttemberg. Affalterbach is home to the management, administration, sales, development and design teams of AMG, as well as the building of AMG hand- crafted engines. Mercedes-AMG now employs approximately 1,800 people—quite the contrast from its humble beginnings as a two-man operation at Hans Werner Aufrecht’s house in Großaspach!

9. Mercedes-AMG has a history of technology and performance related innovations, many of which are evident in our latest vehicles. For example, the next time you drive a Mercedes-AMG, take special note of the AMG Dynamic Select toggle on the center console, as well as the optionally available AMG Drive Unit steering wheel controls, if equipped.

These controls unlock a plethora of performance potential and individualization possibilities, all available from the comfort of your sports seat via a toggle on the console, or switches on the AMG steering wheel.

From "Comfort" to "Sport", "Sport +", "RACE" and "Individual", the driver is able to influence the performance characteristics of their AMG with up to five distinct driving modes. Recently, some of our latest AMG models also offer the new AMG Drive Unit controls, which add a new set of configurable controls on the lower part of the steering wheel.

A round control knob on the lower right side of the steering wheel can easily change the driving modes without removing your hands from the steering wheel, enabling the driver to focus on their performance.

The lower-left steering wheel buttons also offer a variety of quick-access customizations, including functions such as the level of traction control as well as the AMG Performance Exhaust setting, easily accessible via these new advanced steering wheel mounted controls.

10. The Mercedes-AMG ONE hypercar is set to become the most powerful AMG vehicle ever produced— capable of producing more than 1,000 hp and reaching top speeds beyond 217 mph. For the first time, this two-seater hypercar will bring the very latest and most efficient, fully-fledged Formula 1 hybrid technology directly from the racetrack to the road, delivering the ultimate in Driving Performance for years to come.

New Fire-Resistant Door Hardware Protection Brochure from Lorient

Lorient, a respected designer and manufacturer of sealing systems for door assemblies has launched a comprehensively revised brochure featuring its Fire-Resistant Door Hardware Protection products.

Ironmongery is a vital part of a fire door. However, every time a fire door is cut to fit ironmongery, a weakness is created. This could mean three or four weak points in a door, where fire can take hold.

Hörmann UK: COVID-19 Statement Update from Wolfgang Gorner, Managing Director

In order to keep you up to date with what is happening in your industry, we are publishing online updates from our advertisers and contributors as their companies take steps to return to partial or full operation.

Please contact us via the usual channels if you have a news update for the industry.

This update has been provided by Wolfgang Gorner, Managing Director of Leicestershire based Hörmann UK.

Dear all,

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday 23rd March, Hörmann UK had to make some immediate changes and took the decision to suspend normal business operations to ensure the health and wellbeing of our employees, customers and suppliers.

I am pleased to say we are now in a position to safely re-open a limited start-up of our domestic operations from Monday 4th May.

Over the last four weeks, we have been working hard to evolve our business operations to ensure our team can continue to manufacture and distribute our products in a safe manner from our headquarters in Coalville, in line with the Government’s current guidelines.

Following these operational changes, and in accordance with the latest correspondence issued by the Door and Hardware Federation, on behalf of Build UK, we will be operating our domestic business on a reduced basis from the 4th May. We have taken this decision to ensure we can support our distributors wishing to fulfil existing and new orders.

Under these difficult circumstances, it is extremely important that we can continue to manufacture, deliver and install our domestic entrance doors and garage doors to our dealer network. Working in partnership with Sandersons Transport, we will continue to provide a delivery service to ensure our product gets to site safely and in the quickest lead times possible.

At Hörmann UK, the wellbeing of our employees, suppliers and customers will always remain our main priority. However, we also recognise the responsibilities we hold as one of the leading manufacturers of garage and entrance doors within the UK to provide our nationwide distributors and housebuilders with our products.

By continuing to work closely with these partners, and in line with government guidance, we can proactively facilitate limited demand to support the completion of ongoing construction projects, whilst also ensuring the safety of all individuals involved.

If you have any questions regarding the limited re-opening of our domestic operations, please contact Leanne Johnston via email at l.johnston.lei@hormann.co.uk.

Kind Regards,

Wolfgang Gorner

Hörmann celebrates 10 years of success for RollMatic range

2020 marks the tenth anniversary of leading door manufacturer Hörmann UK’s innovative RollMatic garage door range.

Ten years on from its UK launch, Hörmann UK’s RollMatic garage door range remains a popular choice for architects, house builders, installers and homeowners, providing the highest standard in quality and safety.

Building on Hörmann’s German manufacturing expertise, the RollMatic door opens vertically for enhanced usability, requiring minimum space inside the garage whilst simultaneously offering maximum space inside the garage.

Adding to its appeal, the RollMatic door delivers first class safety standards. With the inclusion of an innovative and reliable automatic safety cut-out, the door securely stops and reverses into the opening if it encounters an obstacle, eliminating the need for an additional closing edge safety devices.

The RollMatic also includes Hörmann’s multi-spring technology, which allows for smooth operation and prevents the door from closing suddenly, even when operated manually. The door also has a mechanical security kit, so in the event of a power failure, the door will stay firmly closed.  To open the door during a power-cut, it is a simple matter of putting the door into manual and lifting it without the need for a crank handle, due to its multi-spring technology.

The RollMatic range offers 11 different colours coatings and two varieties of timber designs in Hörmann’s unique Decograin and or Decopaint surface finishes. The range is complemented by Hörmann’s durable matching side doors, which can be installed across the exterior of a property for a cohesive look.

David O’Mara, Marketing Manager for Hörmann UK, said:
“Throughout Hörmann’s longstanding history, the design and manufacture of quality garage doors has been at the very core of our business.
“Through continuous research and development, we have been able to offer our customers exceptional standards in functionality and quality, and our popular RollMatic door is a prime example of this.
“We look forward to working with our nationwide network of distributors to supply and install our RollMatic garage doors for the next 10 years and beyond.”

Hörmann’s RollMatic range is supported by an impressive 10-year warranty and can be installed in a wide range of openings for greater design flexibility.

Operational business update from JD (UK) Limited and Alutech Systems Limited

In order to keep you up to date with what is happening in your industry, we are publishing online updates from our advertisers and contributors as their companies take steps to return to partial or full operation.

Please contact us via the usual channels if you have a news update for the industry.

This update has been provided by Paul Hargreaves, General Manager of Dewsbury based JD (UK) Limited and Alutech Systems Limited.

Dear Valued Customer,

During these challenging times I do hope you, your family and colleagues are keeping well.

Correspondence issued by the DHF ( Door & Hardware Federation ) on behalf of Build UK has recently indicated:

  • We are entering a third week of Lockdown and liquidity is now the critical issue for construction. This point was made loud and clear to the Construction and HS2 Ministers last week by representatives from across the supply chain.

  • Domestic work – The Government has confirmed in it’s guidance on Going to Work, that work in people’s homes can continue as long as it is safe to do so.

Following customer feedback we now consider a phased re-opening of our business as critical to supporting the livelihood of our customers and assisting in the long term survival of our industry.

Most importantly this will be actioned in safe restricted manner and in accordance with Social distancing in the workplace during coronavirus (COVID‐19) guidelines.

With this in mind a summary of our plans are :-

For JD (UK) Limited:

  • Commence deliveries of sectional doors from Wednesday 22nd April onwards.
  • Commence deliveries of roller door garage parts from Monday 27th April onwards.
  • All orders will continue to be received, processed & planned. Please send to sales@jdukltd.co.uk

For Alutech Systems Limited:

  • Commence deliveries of BF73 Bi Fold from Monday 30th April onwards
  • All orders will continue to be received, processed & planned. Please send to sales@alutechsystems.co.uk

Lead times:

  • For sectional doors lead times from placement of order remain very similar. Prior to this crisis we were proud to quote 3 – 4 weeks. Whilst restrictions are in place I would suggest 1 extra week is added to this.
  • For delivery of roller door & BF73 bi fold, should you require delivery during week commencing 27th April please could you ensure orders are sent on / by Tuesday 21st. After this  first weeks we would look to deliver within 5 working days from receipt of order

Sales & Technical Support:

During this period we will operate both from the office and remotely. For both JD Uk & Alutech Systems a skeleton staff will be in place to cover all aspects of the business. Through planning and testing we are confident all sales, technical and customer service queries will be actioned accordingly.

As I do hope you can appreciate deliveries will need to be based upon social distancing guidelines and your assistance in this matter will be crucial in protecting all persons involved in the logistic process. Our primary goal is to protect both our staff and yourselves.

We will continue to monitor the ever changing situation and react accordingly.

Together, we will succeed.

If you have any questions regarding our planned re-opening or any other matter please call Steve Hudson on 07854 005559 or myself on 07557 223630.

Alternatively please email as follows:-

Thanking you in advance for your support.

Yours Faithfully,

Paul Hargreaves
General Manager

New Universal Reinforcing Profile for Roller Garage Doors

Leading UK supplier of Alutech roller shutter components and sectional garage doors, JD (UK) Ltd, is pleased to announce the introduction a new universal reinforcing profile.

This new profile is an advanced alternative to the previous end slat and is designed for roller doors made from roll-formed profiles.

Advantages of the new product:

  • Additional bottom slats can be added to the curtain to give extra rigidity to the curtain and protect it from deformation (from accidental vehicle collision, pressure).
  • Installing the new profile in the upper part of the curtain reduces the loading impact on the side locks of roll-formed profiles, which can appear when covering wide openings.
  • A wide range of colours are available, to mirror those currently available and including the increasingly popular graphite colour.
  • Compatible with existing components – the new reinforcing slat can be used with SP/77E side locks, IS1/77 and IS15 rubber inserts. There is no need to order additional components.

General Manager, Paul Hargreaves, commented:
“JD (UK) and Alutech Group share the same values of always going the extra mile for their customers. Alutech Group meets the demands of its clients by creating new, modern products and improving existing ones.
“And we, at JD (UK), provide UK-based stock holding and responsive delivery, with friendly customer service and expert technical support. The new universal reinforcing profile will be rolled out once existing stock is depleted.”
