Aluroll Fire Shutters Pass New Regulations with Flying Colours

The 2017 Grenfell tragedy prompted significant changes to fire regulations, including additional CE marking requirements for fire and smoke resisting doors.

Aluroll has manufactured the FS range of certified fire shutters for many years. The new guidelines provided a chance to redesign and retest their specialist products, as well as the opportunity to introduce a new insulated fire shutter to meet demand.

All products were tested to EN 16034:2014 by Notified Testing Laboratory Warringtonfire, in accordance with BS EN 1634-1:2014+A1:2018.

Specified test conditions meant exposing the roller shutters to temperatures as high as 1100 degrees Celsius and recording temperatures on and around the door. Radiation levels were also tested, all while the shutters’ performance was assessed.

Aluroll was pleased to find that their products met the new requirements with ease. As a result, the manufacturer is one of the first to offer certified fire shutters which meet the new regulations.

Introducing the new and improved Aluroll FS range:

FS60, FS120, FS240 - Single-skinned steel shutters with 1, 2- and 4-hour fire ratings.

The standard FS design provides a cost-effective way to meet the new fire regulations on a wide range of opening types and sizes.

Available with tubular and inline motors, options include fire alarm system integration and powder coating.

FS120i - Aluroll’s brand new insulated fire shutter. A double-skinned steel profile houses a layer of vermiculite insulation, providing effective sound and heat transfer reducing properties in addition to a 2-hour fire resistance.

The FS120i has many of the same control options as the uninsulated design and is powered by an inline motor.
