Secured by Design visits Strongdor

Industry-leading steel door manufacturer Strongdor Ltd opened up their factory to Crime Prevention Police Officers from across the North West to discuss the role steel doors can play in crime reduction and security solutions.

Working on behalf of the Police Service throughout the UK to deliver a wide range of crime prevention and demand reduction initiatives to design out crime, Secured by Design visited Strongdor for their knowledge and expertise of steel door security solutions for new build and refurbishment projects.

An abounding day, designed to educate the Crime Prevention Officers about the tests and processes Strongdor doors undertake to become Secured by Design accredited, PAS 24 and LPS 1175 rated, and the importance of specifying these door-sets to eliminate endangerment for commercial and residential properties.

The day consisted of the morning discussing and viewing physical testing, followed by a 2-hour factory tour at their 44,500 sq ft manufacturing facility. The event aimed to demystify the individual stages of the manufacturing process with live demonstrations of their impressive top-secret product development area.

The Designing Out Crime Officers are mostly based in police stations and work with designers, architects, developers and local planning authorities to incorporate crime prevention measures from the initial concept and planning stages through to final construction.

The officers were impressed by the knowledge and expertise of the demonstrations performed by the employees on the day.

SBD Development Officer Hazel Goss commented:
“As a Development Officer for Secured by Design, I like to arrange awareness events such as these for my member companies and invite Designing Out Crime Officers from adjoining police forces to attend, allowing them to learn more about the products and the companies I have the pleasure of looking after.
“Strongdor put together a full agenda covering all areas of manufacture and products they offer, throwing in a fun test and prizes for participating. The day finished with a factory tour, a great way to see the processes first-hand and ask those important questions.
“My colleagues and I had an amazing day and they got so much from visiting which they can now use in their day-to-day roles. Thank you, Strongdor, for organising the event and making it such a fantastic day.”

Managing Director, Tim Devenish said:
“It was our pleasure to welcome the Crime Prevention Officers to Strongdor for the day. It gives us great honor to be able to share our journey growth and commitment to continue investing in Third Party testing to ensure we produce quality steel doors, that are certified and meet the required legislation for their premises.”
As part of Strongdor’s commitment to transparency, they have opened up their factory in a 360-degree image, available on their website, enabling customers to navigate around the factory to go behind the scenes and watch how and where their doors are made.

Strongdor set up a Continuing Professional Development day for local Crime Prevention Officers to develop and enhance their knowledge within their industry about Secured by Design Strongdor Steel Doors. Providing the best knowledge and advice to them when they need to specify steel doors for their premises.
