Gate Safe delivers CPD to police with SBD and the Academy

Gate Safe recently delivered a webinar-based CPD on automated and manual gate safety to over 120 police Designing Out Crime Officers (DOCOs) and police crime prevention specialists, as part of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) Crime Prevention CPD programme.

Gate Safe’s involvement with this initiative stems from its ongoing working relationship with Secured by Design, a longstanding supporter of Gate Safe and the official police security initiative that works to improve the security of buildings and their immediate surroundings.

Following a formal introduction by Michael Brooke, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Police Crime Prevention Initiatives and Amanda Mulholland, National Police Crime Prevention Academy Manager, Richard Jackson OBE, founder of Gate Safe, provided a 45-minute presentation outlining the importance of gate safety and highlighting the protocols that must be adopted to ensure a safe and legally compliant installation. The ensuing Q&A session allowed delegates to discuss technical issues in more detail and to debate potential additional ideas to bring gate safety to the fore.

Richard Jackson OBE commented, “We are grateful to Secured by Design for its ongoing support of Gate Safe, and for its part in realising this excellent opportunity to extend the Gate Safe messaging to a highly influential and important strand of our target audience. We applaud the work that Secured by Design undertakes to improve the physical security and safety of buildings and their immediate environments, spanning the home, commercial and school sectors. We look forward to continuing the collaboration with Secured by Design, especially in the immediate future in relation to Gate Safe’s Safe School Gates initiative.”

Michael Brooke added, “We were delighted to support Gate Safe in delivering this important CPD session on automated and manual gate safety. The session provided valuable insight into the critical standards and procedures that help ensure safe, compliant installations across the UK. Gate Safe’s continued work to raise awareness of gate safety reflects our shared commitment to improving the security and safety of buildings and their surroundings, and we look forward to further collaboration.”
