Europe Signs up to ARGE EPD Plans

ARGE has announced its plans for delivering generic Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) by Summer 2015, with 11 member associations from across Europe already committed.

After completing its presentations to all member country associations, ARGE has received an overwhelmingly positive response to its proposals for the delivery of generic EPDs.

Member associations from Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK have all agreed to run ARGE EPDs, with Czech Republic and Poland likely to follow in their footsteps.

The project, which is due to commence in April 2014 in order to meet a Summer 2015 deadline, will have detailed plans drawn up and agreed during February. This will enable members to commit to the programme by the end of March, when a resourced and time-lined delivery plan will be in place.

Speaking on the importance of delivering generic EPDs, ARGE’s General Secretary, Joachim Kieker said:
“There is no denying that the construction landscape has altered, with the changes brought in under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and the shift in attitude toward sustainability, which has seen it take centre stage on many CSR policies.

“Generic EPDs are crucial in adapting to this changing market and we have actively encouraged all our members to engage with our journey to delivering them. It is very positive to see so many of our member associations already agreeing to run the EDPs and we now have a clear roadmap for making these a tangible asset by 2015.”

Further announcements will soon be made on the official EPD provider. To stay up to date follow the ARGE Linked In page at http://www.linkedin.com/company/arge or visit the website www.arge.org.
